No kidding. Places I used to hunt are now housing developments.

Or, in one of the places I grew up, what was once corn fields has been mostly reclaimed by trees.

Gonna bow out for a few hours. Mrs. AZ is now done with work for the day. Time to start dinner.

My father's old school house. My uncle restored it. My father refurbished the old red school bell.

Dad told me when he was just a kid, he would ride his horse to school. Hitch the horse in back. After school, ride his horse back home. This would be around the late 1940s.

I think I started using a backpack when I went back to school in the late 80s. Just didn't feel like carrying an armful of books around and the backpack was convenient. Still is especially when I travel. Never know when American might decide to strand me somewhere overnight. Which they have.

1992, when I decided to finish my accounting degree, went to the college bookstore to buy my textbooks.

Five courses, over a dozen books. Business courses were reasonable, but required electives were a racket.

That's when a bought my first backpack for college.

Then I got smart. Discovered all professors keep one copy of each textbook in the library reserve. Turned my elective courses textbooks back in the next day and got my money back.

The worse was English 301. Subject was "to be determined by instructor". Feminism, seven paperback books, one, $50 for a 80 page paperback. Laughed, and moved on.

Back from dinner. Leftover burgers long with macaroni salad. Was in a grilling mood yesterday so grilled enough burgers for dinner for the next couple of nights.

Am getting ready to fire up the smoker. Maybe this coming weekend. Trying to decide between a brisket or chicken. Got the chicken down to an art form. Always nice and moist. The good thing with that is when we do smoke something, we always make enough to freeze at least half. And that's where the Food Saver comes in handy.

There was a road rage incident in PHX the other day. Guy and gal in separate SUVs cutting each other off and flipping the other off as well. Of course it escalated. They were stopped at the light. He was behind her and stupidly exited his vehicle. She does same. They get into a shouting match. He then spits on her. She pulled her pistol and dropped him. DRT.
