Old Man's Corners

There was a road rage incident in PHX the other day. Guy and gal in separate SUVs cutting each other off and flipping the other off as well. Of course it escalated. They were stopped at the light. He was behind her and stupidly exited his vehicle. She does same. They get into a shouting match. He then spits on her. She pulled her pistol and dropped him. DRT.

Where were the cops 👮‍♂️

Brilliant thanks for the share

Even I would not recognize Buno Road. Fifty years ago was still mostly farm land and middle class housing. Today, one will have to be a millionaire to even consider buying a home in the area.

My great grandfather was one of earliest farmers along Buno Road.

My great grandmother's grand parents was one of the first settlers in Brighton, Michigan. They started the first Lutheran Church in the state of Michigan, using their chicken coop.

Somewhere in the State of Michigan's archives is a photo of St. George's Lutheran Church's 150th anniversary with me and others standing in front.

I come from a deeply civic and religious family. All the land and wealth was donated to either the church or Boy Scouts of America.

Boy Scouts of America sold the land and facilities my family built. It is now an exclusive area for the very wealthy with their own private golf club.

Last night, a black trucker caught my attention. Was doing garbage outside.

He told me I was a good soul, looked it up,....

In Islam, a "good soul" is one that has lived righteously, in accordance with God's will, and is characterized by its purity, love, and connection to Allah. This good soul, or ruh, receives a welcoming greeting from angels upon death
and is destined for Paradise (Jannah), while an evil soul is met with punishment and denied entry to heaven. Nurturing the soul in this life involves Dhikr (remembrance of Allah), prayer, fasting, Zakat, and Hajj, leading to a satisfied soul that will ultimately be honored and welcomed into Jannah.

Fist bump him. Told him I wouldn't be giving my time to him if I didn't think he was a good soul too.

Took me a few hours this morning to finish up the side yard in the front. Am kind of anal about trimming bushes and then the cleanup. Everything looks squared away.

Only a few of us on our street do our own yard work. Everyone else hires it out. It's not that I'm cheap. Like most of the members in this thread, my parents were of the Depression era. So I have an ingrained habit of doing things myself.

Same here, partially done.

I am cheap AND lazy. I don't mow until the grass is at least 6+ inch tall; I say to friends 'it has to look like a rice paddy' before I mow. But then, who walks on the grass or even sees it except me and my wife and occasional Amazon delivery person. So why bother. I mostly mow because taller grass gives snakes a shelter; in an entire year, there is maybe 5-6 times mowing.
The house is deep in the woods on some acreage, with virtually no neighbors. I like it that way. It amazes my friends the life of this 'Pakistani Country Gentleman'. Hahaha!

I like a squared away yard. Probably due to the German in me. Everything has to be neat and orderly.

Same with my vehicles. I hate shopping for new vehicles. Would rather go to the electric chair first. So I over-maintain them. Even my oldest vehicle, a 1999 Toyota Tacoma with coming up on 312K-miles still runs like a top.
