PA MLRS, Self Propelled and towed artillery [BM-11, Fatah-I GMLRS, Fatah-II] - News, Updates & Discussions

I shared the TIPU Weapon System on Western defence forum. Interestingly, one of them pointed out quite a huge similarity with the Russian 152/155 mm Laser Guided Krasnopol-M2. The M2 is the latest upgraded iteration of the original, which was introduced in 1980's. Also as per Wikipedia, the Krasnopol guided artillery was used by Indian Army during Kargil War and is the current user along with China.

So that means Pakistan Army managed to get the Chinese version, having upgrade it and named it TIPU Weapon System?

Fateh Series and Abdali are not different?

Hataf-II Series orignal Abdaali Missile was a Single-stage solid propellant SRBM 6.5m long 1750 kg weight with 200km range & had different shape.

Fatah series ranging from the Fatah-I to the forthcoming Fatah-IV, were announced being "tailored for both tactical and strategic applications alike", enabling deep penetration strikes into enemy territory. After Fatah-2 SSM ranged test at 400 km - it was announced that Fatah-III & IV would be tested & are under development at 450 - 700km respectively.

I don't know why we keep naming our missiles after afghan invaders.
We could have called this missile khokhar, jatt, bhatti, Marwat, khattak or something else.
Why?.

Not all invaders were 'Afghan', many were Turkic i.e. non-Afghan. That's fine with people like myself as Hazara. But you are right they should also be called other names, the issue is those names are also prominent across the border.

It's not Abdali as we know it.
It has two sets of fins at the back.
Abdali had a set of stabilizing fins at the back and maneuvering canards at the front.

Fatah-III Abdaali May 3rd 2025 :

"Pakistan conducted a successful training launch of the Abdali Weapon System, a surface-to-surface missile with a range of 450 kilometers, as part of Ex INDUS.

The launch was aimed at ensuring the operational readiness of troops and validating key technical parameters, including the missile’s advanced navigation system and enhanced maneuverability features.

The training launch was witnessed by the commander army strategic forces command, senior officials from the Strategic Plans Division, Army Strategic Forces Command, as well as scientists and engineers from Pakistan’s strategic organisations, the ISPR added.

President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Sahir Shamshad Mirza and services chiefs extended their congratulations to the participating troops, scientists, and engineers.

Fatafh-II :

"Pakistan has successfully test-launched the Fatah-II Short Range Ballistic Missile (SRBM), a locally developed weapon with a range of 400km, surpassing its predecessor, Fatah-I.

Equipped with advanced avionics and inertial satellite navigation systems, the Fatah-II boasts high precision with a a CEP under 10 meters. Its unique flight trajectory and mobile launcher system enhance its survivability against modern air defense systems like India’s S-400 “Triumf.”

Designed for precision strikes on high-value targets deep in enemy territory, the Fatah-II represents a strategic advancement for Pakistan’s military capabilities, particularly in challenging adversarial defenses and securing dominance in regional security dynamics.

The guided missile system (Fatah-II) will provide the Pakistan Army with the ability to accurately target locations within deep enemy territory,” stated a recent release from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Strategic Significance of Fatah - II :

This Fatah-II System represents a strategic expansion of Pakistan’s guided rocket arsenal. Compared to the Fatah-I and Nasr series, the Fatah-II exhibits a longer range and design advancements like a twin-cell launcher and finless nosecone. Experts suggest possible shared design elements with the CM-400AKG air-launched missile used by the Pakistan Air Force.

Fatah-II incorporates a single-stage dual-thrust solid rocket motor, a thermal protection system, and a programmable trajectory for enhanced in-flight guidance and accuracy. Its sophisticated navigation system leverages both INS and GNSS technologies. Additionally, an automatic aiming, leveling, positioning, and orientation system aids in precise targeting.

Seems like the name or designation Abdaali refers to a Nuclear capable Surface 2 surface weapons system. In geometry it lacks the frontal maneuvering fins & appears ore Sleek with quick response delivery cannisters on TEL. So when used in Conventional domain the configuration is named Fatah-III which could be the logical conclusion at this point of time."

What kind of improvement is this? Fateh-II with 400 KM range and Fateh - III with 450 KM, only +50 km. Plus, why Pakistan is creating this ambiguity between this particular missile being Fateh-III with conventional warhead and Abdali-II with nuclear warhead? What if its launch with conventional warhead is taken by India as a nuclear strike and India puts its own ready to go plans as counter-nuclear strike? Doesn't make any sense at all.
