PAF Future Acquisition Plans

I wish India invests in Su-57 heavily. This plane is a very low-end of all 5th gen fighters in pre-production or production. just like Su30mki.... this one will be a flying duck for PAF even with J10C, PAF can take this one. In this scenario, it will not be a field day for PAF like May 7-10 20-2025. That is why PAF should invest in a 5th-generation off-the-shelf fighter plane

India will not go for su57 in numbers.. instead just stop gaps .. they most probably induct F35 later on ...

Rare earths are used in all computing / electronic platforms made today. Especially, in Radars and Defensive Systems and even in the stealth "skin". Some names include: Neodymium, Praseodymium, Dysprosium and Terbium
F-35's skin buildout uses a rare element mixture in around 400 KG quantity including waste.

Most probably PAF DGPR was trying to show a TPS77MRR but used image of that instead (not the first time)

What happened to that project? Couldn't perform as per desired or financial issues?
 
If the following PAF squadron numbers are correct, that means PAF need to replace at least 8 squadrons' worth of a/c (numbers per sqd varying based on type of asset) in a short period:

1. J-10 - Sqd 15
2. F-16 - Sqd 5/9/11/19/29
3. JF-17 - Sqd 2/8/14/16/18/26/28
4. Mirages - Sqd 7/22/25/27/50
5. F-7PG - Sqd 17/20/23

Only an additional 16x J-10 and approx. 7x JF-17 ordered, may only be suitable for 2x sqd. Is UCAV the way forward?

23 was F-7PG CCS Sqd, that has been disbanded
20 Sqd is F-7PG OCU and 19 Sqd only frontline F-7PG unit. Granted all need to be replaced asap

The Mirage Sqds are all overstrsngth (having inherited planes from disbanded units) so even they it is only 5 Sqds on paper, it is probably more like 8 in reality. This is a major headache as all these planes are old, even ROSE I,II,III upgrades are old tech now and the cockpit barely late 80s tech. As we saw in 2019, these planes are handy for launchimg SOW at stand off range but even then,, once you add fuek tanks, payload is limited. In air to air role now you can discount these totaly

Could you kindly share the source of the information that only 7 more JF-17 Block-3 (if at all) are on order?

Here’s a more relaxed, conversational version for you:



I would say at least full 2x sqd of UCAV in the near future. Pakistan is set to bump up its J-10C fleet, with numbers likely going beyond 72 aircraft, depending on available funding and strategic priorities. These jets bring solid capability to the table with advanced avionics, AESA radar, and multirole flexibility and they're expected to take over frontline duties from older platforms.
Under the PFX (Pakistan Future Fighter) program, once it's officially unveiled, we’ll get a clearer picture of what comes after the current JF-17 Block 3 production run. That will help define how many jets Pakistan plans to add next, and what mix of tech it'll aim for.

As for retirements and replacements:
  • The plan is to retire F-7 & Mirage squadrons, which will be swapped out for J-10Cs.
  • The remaining squadrons are expected to be replaced by J-35 stealth fighters, assuming availability and alignment with budget and doctrine.
All in all, it’s a quiet but steady push to modernize the fleet with a combination of 4.5 gen strength and stealth potential on the horizon.
