PAF Future Acquisition Plans

Now that relation with america is becoming normal and slowly back where it was in the 70s, do you guys think the american would offer us the f-16v upgrade or even f-15ex? our forces could use to blow more rafales and prove that american and chinese systems are miles better than euros
If we've proven that our J-10s can outrange them why would we want to chain ourselves with American weapons now?

Should put all our eggs in the Chinese basket immediately.

because American system is also good? chinese weapons might be good but lets not pretend that americans still don't have have a edge in aircraft jets.

It's not about US Tech vs Chinese Tech. It's about making an existing fleet of 75 F-16s (or as many we can afford at the moment) upgraded to a level where they again become a top-tier force for the air force. It would be a great bang for the buck, as we have decades of expertise and experience in utilizing these platforms to their maximum effectiveness. It would certainly be beneficial to utilize all that.

That edge is not worth the chains that come attached with it. We've been scarred multiple times in maintenance when we've most needed these American jets.

We also don't get the whole package ever. We had F-16s but no refueler and no A2G standoff weapons for them.

Yes, Most probably very soon second Sqd of J 10 C will be received.
However, J-35 delivery is really confusing us. May be few example, we can get sooner as a big surprise.

Why the confusion? J35s have only recently gone in to production, PLA also wants a few squadrons, paf will get them soon but so we really need them is the question. We have J10CEs on order, PFX in planning, and now J35s. The best way should be to get extra J10CEs, get them over and done with, then move on to J35s.

Paf needs to move on from Usa, Chinese and Turkish weaponary is the future, and I agree, we don't need F16s anymore unless they come free.

like what...? weve got the jdam series, we had mavs, we're missing jassm's and ngl i dont think that one is unreasonable to withhold

There’s a growing possibility that in near future China could relocate the entire J-10C production line to Pakistan, allowing China to shift its focus exclusively toward developing fifth and sixth generation fighter jets. While China may continue promoting the J-10C internationally, any future exports would likely be manufactured and delivered from Pakistan.

I've been voicing this J-10C assembly in Pakistan since 2019. Got a lot of heat from many people at that time.

It's very possible as J-10C doesn't have future in the Chinese military beyond 700 numbers. Chinese have to catch up with the US military fielding near 5000 fighters jets of 4.5 and 5th gen. The Chinese want to counter it with stealth jets. So all their assembly lines will be running 5th and 6th generation development.

However, Pakistan can't run assembly lines optimally. We can still only produce 26 JF-17's and we've been at it since 2007. So we must need to adapt speed if we are serious to be an aviation exporter nation. Local production capability should kick out at least 50 jets per year.

J-10C assembly line at this time, after May's war, doesn't make sense. With India massing up 3 layers of overlapping S-400's, we now need to go heavy towards stealthy platforms, both local and Chinese as requirements changed. Let's see what AIR HQ cranks out in its new strategy.

because its useless... all the bits come from china anyway... there is no benefit to this

did xi come into your dreams to tell you this?

Upgrading f16s to v upgrade block 70 standard will add extra life keep them relevant and allow extra resources to be diverted for cutting edge resources rather than just keeping the numbers up

It s a cheap option and is being paid by coalition support fund upgrade shud take place in turkiya

Mavericks? Really? They are so old that I unsure If they are even functional, if we could have gotten harpoons integrated on them then they have been decent in a Anti ship role but here we are.

You clearly didn't understand the context. Some who knew China's direction back then, knew China's key focus will be on stealth mass production only. There were some tech break throughs that took time. Had China resolved these tech issues in 2015, you could see near 1000 J-20 in service today. In that case, J-10C line would also be used for J-20 production as a national priority.

So a TOT or licensed based production line could've been achieved and we would be building the J-10C also in house with 40% of the airframe and PL-15's coming from China.

Not needed today because our requirements have changed.
