PAF J-10C News, Updates and Discussion

If not the source, go with the logic.

20 aircraft are in the inventory 16 aircraft were to be delivered. Following induction patterns now should be the time for the new batch. Question is of how many?

It was not until last year that PLAAF completed the full decommissioning of J6/J7.
To this day, a small number of J8s are still in service with PLAAF.
So, don't rush and take your time
The J-8 won't be retired for another decade.
top speed of Mach 2.4 and the ability to fly at 20,000 meters, and a range of 2,200 kilometers. It's a great airplane for the South China Sea.

There is no way in hell first batch was only 20 Air Crafts.

I did hear that. But this does not correspond to the actual situation.

The J8 production line has long been completely shut down. According to publicly available information, most of the troops that were previously equipped with J8 have been equipped with J11B and J16. The decommissioning of the J8 is ongoing. It is expected that all PLAAF J8 will be retired within this year.

Only about a few dozen J8 are still in service. Some analysts pointed out: based on the characteristics of the J8 high-altitude and high-speed interceptor, the PLA Navy may retain 1~2 squadrons of J8. However, more information indicates that the PLA Navy will retire all J8 by 2025.

I do not doubt that more will be delivered.
But fan boys here keep posting such things repeatedly every other month just to take credit that they have "relations" or "inside sources"..... And also "didn't I tell you?".
Not about logic. You simply missed my point.

The J-8 will be in service until at least 2030.

Zengmuqiansha is about 1,600 kilometers from Hainan Island, and it is most economical to use the J-8 to cruise the South China Sea. Neighbors in the South China Sea don't have too many good planes either, and the J-8 is more than enough to handle them. Cruising the South China Sea with J-16s is too expensive and unnecessary. Unless Vietnam and the Philippines massively upgrade their umm air forces.

What's more, its speed and high altitude capability can handle some special aircraft. An example Blackjack, which can fly up to 20,000 meters.

China still has 36 J-8s in service

The J8 does have an advantage in high-altitude and high-speed volley missions.

However, the J8 production line was shut down more than a decade ago, and the related maintenance parts have long since been discontinued.

I think that the PLA Navy may temporarily keep a small number of J8s with better airframes and maintain them with stocks and other parts removed from the decommissioned J8s. But these old organisms are unlikely to survive until 2030.
