Pakistan may be out of the American basket but its military leaders are not.. despit being kicked in the nether region time and time again..

Best to stick with chinese and other non-US suppliers..

This is actually one of the most secret information of the j10c. Previously, there were many reports on the j10c in China, except for the radar which clearly identified it as AESA. Other news about electronic information was almost zero. It was only after j10c arrived in Pakistan that I knew for sure that j10c had built-in electronic warfare kits and was connected to artificial intelligence. Previously, we only knew in vague news that j10c was using new methods to confront j16, inferring that j10c may have electronic jamming devices，I estimate that the J-10C's electronic warfare kit played an important role in the confrontation with the Typhoon fighter jet, as well as in the J-10C's operations against Iran

What Pakistan has is its location. It’s seems this is what Pakistan keeps harping on, but it’s true. Pakistan is bordered to its west by Iran, a country the west will try to encircle/ostracize. Iran is also about to modernize its military and the Russians look set to help them do it, because both nations don’t care about the sanctions against them, and see each others as “fellow travelers”.

Pakistan and the US are already focus on CT vis a vi Afghanistan, but for the US now, containing Iranian influence has moved up the priority list.

Building up Pakistan in such a way to throw weight behind her on Afghanistan and Central Asia can create an “alliance” to challenge Iranian influence in the heart of Asia, where no other independent pathway allows. Even the Azerbaijani route has Russian influence upon it.

So Pakistan could insist on the means to defend itself against an Iranian Air Force that will soon operate many Su-35s and S400s. Heck the Uzbeks are looking to get Rafales and they have an Iranian ally in the form of Tajikistan on their border.

Pakistan wouldn’t be carrying out military operations against Iran, on behalf of any power, but maintaining a capability to protect a new arrangement in Central Asia. Furthermore, Pakistan seeks to have some influence in the west to maintain/grow its economic export prospects with the west, so it’s not unlikely this may be an arrangement Pakistan is seeking, especially as a way to bury the reframe the history of Pak-US relations vis a vi Afghanistan, and find a productive new relationship.

A Pak-US relationship focused around this new priority, would allow Pakistan to not face as much pressure from the US about its relationship with China going forward as Pakistan seeks more advanced military capabilities.

Iran set to get Su-35s soon. Hopefully the PAF can ask China to bring its Su-35s to the next Shaheen Series of exercises, or a quiet clandestine exercise.

Su-35 is meant to replace F-14. J-10C is meant to replace F-16.

The Su-35 , is a long awaited upgrade for Iranian Airforce

I think if Russia has upgraded Iran's airforce back in 2010 , most likely the wars in Syria would never have happened

Sure, but Pakistan would want to know its Su-35 can beat by the J-10 and how, precisely; what tactics, systems, strategies alongside other assets.
