They might not be meant for it, but could be employed in that role. Their ability to carry potentially larger Anti-Ship Cruise missiles or Ballistic missiles, might make them better suited, then any other aircraft in the PAF inventory, should push come to shove.

The PAF may need this platform, down the line, perhaps with a more power engine to be able to carry a pair of Hypersonic cruise missiles with enough range to effectively keep Indian carrier battle groups at bay.
