We're just doing comparisons between fighters, not under combat systems. The gap still exists when everyone is using the same class of combat system.Data Link via AWACS, other airborne & ground assets, usually takes care of this?
That's why we see that countries with a larger country and some economic power usually use a combination of medium and heavy fighters. In contrast, in some countries with smaller land areas or less economic power, fighter aircraft are usually used in a combination of medium and light. This is related to the scope of military operations and the economic strength of the country.
The JF-17 Block 3 radar has a maximum detection range of 170 kilometers. The radar detection range of the Su-30MKI fighter is 135 kilometers.
The JF-17 Block 3 can carry the PL-15E. Without the support of an external combat system, the JF-17 B3 can easily defeat the Su-30MKI, which is the advantage of the technology generation gap. However, if there is no technology difference between the two, the JF-17 B3 will be at a disadvantage. The larger fuselage of the Su-30MKI can accommodate a larger radar, which can first detect and attack the JF-17 B3 at a longer distance.
