It’s possible that I didn’t explain clearly enough, which led to your misunderstanding.Never ever! And China will never sell the carrier variant to Pakistan and the fact that that’s is reported is IMO simply explained not by the unlikely explanation, an export version might be developed but simply since a reporter again does not differ between both versions, picked up again a rumour and included an error!
Again, such reports are not discussed in the public and when China delivers them - again IMO impossible mid-2026 - they will appear almost out of the blue but not after some repeatedly incredible claims were reposted several times.
A friend suggested that we could wait until the J-35 matures before making a purchase. I replied that the J-35 is already a mature platform because we developed the J-35A based on the J-35 platform.
The model Pakistan would acquire would not be the J-35 carrier-based aircraft. What I meant is that if the news about Pakistan purchasing the J-35 is true, it indicates that the export version of the J-35 has been successfully developed, and its name might be J-35CE (just speculation); Pakistan would obtain the J-35CE.
The J-35 platform is planned to have at least four versions: the Air Force version, the Navy version, the export version, and the two-seat version.
We can see that the J-35 carrier-based aircraft, the J-35A Air Force version, and the upcoming J-35CE export version all follow this path, which aligns very well with the plan and China’s equipment development strategy.
