PAF J-35AE - News, Updates and Discussions

Imagine Pakistan getting 5th gen air craft 10-15 years before India.

Even if India panic order F-35 now, it will take 5 years for first delivery.

America when in good humour was very generous....f 16 in the 80s were gift so were other goodies....china has a pretty mercantilist mindset.
Exactly
In 60's Pak even got F104, sabers too.
Americans even could had provided help with local manufacturing, but PAF leadership of that time didn't care, as americans will readily provide any fighter lost due to attrition, crash, or accident 😊

Its probably for the best. Free $$ and weapons from USA made Pakistan dependent on USA. When they pulled the rug we didnt know what to do.

Our economy became dependent on free flow of $. We never worked on export led growth for decades.

They weren’t free. They were under Foreign Military Sales which means you pay for them. The package, when announced, in 1981 was $ 1.05 billion. Which was a lot of money 44 years ago.

Nope. The US even then was careful to ensure that the PAF didn’t outmatch the IAF. Read “The Story of the PAF”. It was published in the 1980s about the first military supplies to Pakistan in the late 1950s. And other things

Pakistan is not getting J-35 before 2028. People are forgetting how such high ticket items are inducted, it requires on ground infrastructure, training & whole different apparatus plus money.

You also have to look at what scale the production of these happen in China whether they are existing orders that take precedence over PAF order.

Well, you can't blame the Americans for our own shortcomings...

That was the initial offer that Zia called as peanuts....later package was $ 5 billion.

I have not read that. Mostly I had read articles, one time I was regular reader of army magazine, dunno, defence journal.
LM star fighters F-104 was mach 2, and it was something at that time though it was not a stable machine.
I dunno India had any plans like that, it got few mig 21s which were definitely better.

Pakistan’s acquisition of the J-35 stealth fighter jets from China appears increasingly likely, especially given reports that PAF pilots have already begun training on the platform. The key questions now revolve around the timeline, quantity, and formal induction into the Pakistan Air Force (PAF).
No one on this forum disputes that “Pakistan will get the J-35”. This is a view recognized by all.
The point of contention here is timing and quantity.

Pak obviously does not have forex to pay, but Pak may be paying off using some other means. Contract of Saindak Copper-Gold project with MCC which also owns ~52% stakes in it. So far MCC has earned ~$2 billion, actual amount difficult to ascertain due to both Pak-China gov/mil policies.
Project has been extended.
Pak and China close allies, Pak provides a 2nd front engagement to India on behalf of China, it is by default also, but it serves massively to PRC strategic interests.
May advantages Pak provides are intangible, like recent J10CE, PL15E advertisement not just for sales but also a deterrent vis a vis Taiwan, the whole multi domain war theater.
Same relationships Pak had with USA with FMS/FMF, though it was transactional.

When are you guys going to realize this?

It's the free stuff that's the most expensive stuff!

It's not that Pakistan needs J 35 immediately ( India is stymied for the next few years ) ......in a decade or so china will be the predominant power in the world ( both , economically and military ) ..... whether china likes it or not , wants it or not , she can't shrug of her responsibility to keep the balance in world order.... America may huff and puff but it has lost the escalation ladder in east Asian theater..... America can't run away from middle Eastern theatre and it's this theater where china will need Pakistan to keep some semblance of sanity.

The J-35 is a PLAN funded program. Have you seen our bare ass carrier NO 003? The bare deck is waiting for the J-35.

Indians are likely to get 5G fighters for at least another 5 years, why are you guys in such a hurry?

I don't think the US will take the risk and sell F-35s to India.Considering IAF pilots capabilities that would be more than a massive gamble
