Sad indeed, but it was quite costly for PAF to operate, so had to go I guess. Even C-130 sorties were cut down by a large number.
Funniest bit was that the offcrs mess had wings named after the transport wing and at the time CASA was the higher end rooms - lol.

Was a mistake buying the CN-235s in the first place I think

Between the gap between SAAB 2000 transport capability and C-130s is wide, granted, but enough to justify small numbers of another type? Not sure.
Xi'an is flying a new four-engine turboprop transport aircraft. It wouldn't surprise me if -- in addition to PLA needs, of course -- this came up as a result of conversations between the PAF and AVIC on finding something to replace the C-130s, one day.

OTOH, don't discount the Russians.

If anything is going to replace the C-130s it's likely going be more C-130s I don't think Uncle Sam minds that much considering everyone and their mother operates the C-130

Your previous attempts to get Js was vehemently opposed and blocked by the Indian lobby. So have to settle for second hand Hs and that too will be a tooth and nail fight.

Perhaps all that sucking up to Trump has changed things besides the A400M is an another option albeit a more expensive one

Trump loves Shahbaz Sharif and Asim Munir, but he and Americans don't love Pakistan, i.e., the country. There's a cost to being a Muslim-majority nuclear power that no amount of appeasing the West will turn around.

I thought they were rejected as being too expensive? Would the Indians seriously lobby against a transport aircraft deal? Nothing surprises me them to be honest

I think they would oppose anything Pakistan wants.

Never thought we would have this problem, but say if just 2 companies now place an order for 40 jets each. how do we make 80 planes quickly?

Chance that we may actually lose credibility here by selling something we cannot deliver (in a timely manner)
