Update: I got news for some sources that Pakistan started work on JF-17 Block 4 probably stealth version with new powerful engine but I am confused, Pakistan is getting J-35 and Kaan also and now JF-17 with stealth design and new egnine.

What is going on?

I don't think that's true at all. We wouldn't be able to produce some of the best pilots like Alam or the current guys who've done an incredible job against the IAF if it wasn't for their passion for flying. Listen to air commodore Tufail and his passion for flying. It's not for lack of want but lack of opportunity I guess that most aren't able to fly in some form or another. Given the chance, I'm sure most of them would love to get back into the seat of a historical aircraft.
Yes I know Tufail uncle, he was my father's IP at the Academy and on F-16s. If passions were that high, they would have done it. It isn't in their culture to pursue such big goals after retirement. They are more than happy to pen down books about their experiences in the service. And as far as opportunities are concerned, they are the only ones who can push the spark for it. Almost all don't consider it. So far I only know one, he was also asked to fly a MiG-21 in the US a few years ago but COVID came into effect. Their interest for that might be high, but passion probably not so much.

A few years ago I had reached out to a former US Marine General who flew private Harriers around airshows. We proposed a few F-6s in PAF colours to which he was keen and asked for ex-PAF guys. But none of them were interested in pursuing it.

I think you may be imposing a Western socioeconomic framework on a Pakistani environment with limited resources. What you are proposing is extremely expensive. Flying one of these fighters is expensive and keeping it air worthy even more so. However great your passion, it requires a lot of money. A good acquaintance of mine, a very wealthy Spanish businessman, acquired a Mig 21 in 1995. He flew it a total of 2 times. After that, he spent the next several years trying to sell it. Buying it only cost him $2m. But maintenance each year was half that again... until he just decided to forget about it.

Perhaps you can ask "Uncle Tufail" if he lacks passion... or money.

Great points. As I said previously, that side of the aviation culture doesn't exist in Pakistan. It takes a lot of volunteers, a lot of former professionals and passionate individuals. North America and Europe do have it, it was going to start in the Arab world until the latest war series started. It may reach South Asia someday.

Note : I'll end the topic here to keep the thread for PAF news, this can be talked about in Aviation or GA matters.

Nothing. Your uncle is wrong ;) ... There will never be a stealth version of JF17 ever.

A new variant with new radars, weapons and other EW equipment yes, but not much more than that.

Flying is very expensive and while in the USA, ex-pilots can continue as their salaries are quite high during service and airline flying after work, in Pakistan that cannot be the case due to cost difference of flying/maintenance/procurement costs relative to salaries, pension payments in Pakistan itself etc.

Since when is the PAF getting Kaan and J35? The PAF ACM has only mentioned J35 coming "soon", whatever that means, but there's no official comment about Kaan. JF17 block 4/PFX/Alpha or whatever it's called these days is still largely vapourware.

Than how many platforms we are getting or interested?

Since the mood of PAF we are interested in as less as we can so definitely we will not induct to divert our intention in all platforms.

no idea about numbers. i think we have to replace f7s mirages old thunders we can have enough numbers.

No one needs headache of western strings attached, GCC learned this the hard way. Also, next gen Chinese tech will leave Typhoons far behind.

I dont think many people realise how thsi war will radically change the security dynamics in the region

Until PFX and/or J35 is ready, Pakistan will need more JF-17C or later future upgraded blocks along with J-10C's for ME deployment. Although will personally prefer if somehow the GCC finance upgraded F-16's from USA and lend it to PAF pilots for duty. Throw in an AEWACS and you will have a package for defence-offense role.
