PA should target to fulfill requirements of its land forces with local production. Bringing in local industry and creating jobs.
Only for most advance & complex tech which can't be done locally should be imported from outside. like 5th gen fighters which are too complex for local industry. SPH, all type of artillery, drones all that should be achieved locally.

The current battlefield has been revolutionized by the AI and it related spectrum of warfare.
By buying off shelf solutions we may be limiting our investment in our local industry.We can never match our regional enemies as far as the purchasing power is concerned considering our economic conditions.
No country, no matter how well established in military and economy, can afford a total breakout of war with another nation now a days of asymmetric warfare enabled by AI solutions.
And we certainly can't.
Israel vs Iran or Russia vs Ukraine you can see the paradigm shifting immensely.
This news keeps on reminding me about the following videos where tactics & technology wins over the big ticket items.
