Only Scar civilian side production is closed in North AmericaSCAR production is being shut down. Pakistan should try to buy it's production line. Even if not SCAR some other rifle needs to come
You don't sayPakistan will have to get eventually get some new modern assault rifles. G3 and Type 56 are relics of the past you can't continue with them.
Was shutdown in Liege as well. I reported on it here or perhaps the other forum I (now sometimes) hang.Only Scar civilian side production is closed in North America

But no takers in the US military. US Special Forces have long since moved on from SCAR to the new Sig rifles.Even that is not the case. It was a marketing tactic. They just announced launch of GEN 2.
I was both right AND wrong. Just announced:

The FN SCAR is Back and Better than Ever
After sunsetting the legacy SCAR last year, FN has the new generation of its venerable modular rifle for 2026-- and they are softer recoiling, accept suppressors, and don't eat scopes anymore.www.guns.com
SHOT Show is in a few days. No doubt in my mind FN will have examples there.

If I recall correctly, 16S is 5.56 and 17S 7.62. The key question is, what is the future caliber being envisaged by the Pakistani planners.View attachment 174712
so a longer MLOK rail, ability to support suppressors and a new buttstock - i think thats the gist of the changes.
Do you think the new Sig 6.8 rifles are going to make it cheaper to acquire the 556 platforms as they will be phased out by the marines and/or usarmy. thats if sig can iron out the issues and really implement the changeIf I recall correctly, 16S is 5.56 and 17S 7.62. Also, keep in mind that amongst the western suppliers, Belgians are considered fairly expensive. If Pakistan were to opt for a western system, we should simply go to the Americans and agree on something. Massive economies of scale and competition among American small-arms manufacturers may make sense.
Given the recent purchases by the UKSF of Knight's Armament Company (KAC) KS-1, Sig's deal with the Indians on the basic 7.62 platform and a brand new platform for the USSOCOM are good exmples and I think Pakistan should explore this route if domestic efforts and collaboration with Turkish/Chinese sources aren't meeting GSR.
I don't know honestly. I was just suggesting that if Pakistan wants to go the way of an AR platform because ppl here keep on pushing SCAR, American companies would be better.Do you think the new Sig 6.8 rifles are going to make it cheaper to acquire the 556 platforms as they will be phased out by the marines and/or usarmy. thats if sig can iron out the issues and really implement the change
Honestly, the right way to approach this, IMO, is to privatize POF's small-arms plant. I doubt it's running near full capacity right now and is more of a burden on the public exchequer.I don't know honestly.
