India does not want trade with Pakistan. Indian govt is going on a strict de-hypenation policy. Which basically means India is trying to reform it's image in the world community.I’m watching the media coming out of India particularly their think tanks, specifically ORF.
They are highlighting that India knows Pakistan won’t really change its stance on Kashmir, it will stay as it is. They point to COAS Munir’s speech to the students that is business as usual on the LOC, and in Kashmir.
So if anyone is voting for PML-N on the basis that relations with India will improve or Nawaz can get trade up substantially with India, know that influential Indians in policy circles don’t see it coming.
Thank you reinforcing my point and clarifying for those with a false sense of hope that the election of any Pakistani leader will change Indian policy.India does not want trade with Pakistan. Indian govt is going on a strict de-hypenation policy. Which basically means India is trying to reform it's image in the world community.
India doesn't want people to think of Pakistan when they hear India as it is very damaging to the image of India to be connected to a country like Pakistan in any way. The foreign minister S Jaishankar has made it very clear on multiple occasions. Basically India wants to be as isolated as possible from Pakistan. No trade, no dialogue, no war.
Indian govt has absolutely no interest in commencing trade relations with Pakistan, we have the absolute minimum trade with Pakistan. We provide Pakistan with life-saving medicine at cheap prices because otherwise average Pakistani won't be able to afford necessary medicine. We have reduced the number of medical tourist VISAs given to Pakistanis and give only to a select few. Rest trade is close to nil and it should remain that way.
BCCI not sending cricket team to play in Asia Cup previously and in Champions Trophy next year is just a part of this de-hyphenation policy.
Modi must make sure Trump’s US doesn’t hyphenate India & Pakistan again
For US, ‘de-hyphenation’ meant focusing on its relationship with India & Pakistan as distinct strands of policy—and not obsessing about bilateral tiestheprint.in
Dear let the elections complete, then we decide..... for now.. stay on topic....India dictates Indo-Pak relations now. Pak has very little say.
Cricket is just one example, how we forced Asia cup out of Pakistan and will do the same for Champions Trophy.
So it does not matter to sits in Islamabad, the decision would be taken in South Block.
Central Asia is not as much a market (except in a few areas) but a source of resources and route to Russia (that isn’t direct and. Ow being used by European firms to sell to Russia without counting it overtly). Sure you can go around to - port in the the Pariah Iran, that will soon face a revamped containment strategy, but overall it won’t make as much economic sense then a straight rail link via Pakistan and Afghanistan; cheaper and faster. This "central asia" wala game has already been lost. Chabahar port took care of that. Waise bhi, central asia has a total population of 7 crores. that's like 3 Karachi/Mumbai. Do you really think that providing them a land route would make a huge difference?
Secondly they all were part of Soviet Union, they've transport corridors with Russia. Russia is taking advantage of global warming and opening warm water ports in places it wasn't possible earlier.
