I was exaggerating a tad to make a point, China will surpass the US. US is already working on 1,000km missiles for air to air, I think in 10 years China will bypass them in every sphere by the way the current pace of development os going

And how can they will guide 1000 km BVR to its target? unless it will has some kind of satellite terminal guidance which is currently not feasible with current technology or near future technology unless some kind of miracle/ breakthrough will come online in near or far future, you can't change the physical prosperities of the Earth with technologies ever

In years gone by you’ve had a soft spot for the US and I can’t understand why ?
Isn’t withholding the bulk of our F16 order and mothballing it in the Navada dessert only to compensate us for soya beans enough reason to see who they really are. Moments after the “cease fire” trump was rearming India there were literal rows of c17s parked on the tarmacs of the enemy .
The F-solahs are a liability yaara. We can’t really be too adventurous with it without getting a slap on the wrist.

I can also ask why is withholding aircraft on sanctions based on the US setting rules well prior to this a problem. At the end, its also about how effective the weapon system was for Pakistan - exactly how much fear it sowed that they still fantasize about shooting it down.

So - where you see US love I see a very effective weapons system that until the J-10C(and even then not) has no great replacement for the amount of value it brings.

Easy, you want to lose 25% of our combat force because America treated us badly in the past, if everyone did that there would be no F-16s flying anywhere.F-16s are here to stay, they will be 2nd line for sure, but still more potent then the Mirages and F-7PGs

as long as the F16s are not sitting duck targets in a bvr environment, sure.
Otherwise the americans will see their prized fighters disappear in next BVR war as it wont be a light squirmish anymore.....its actually in their interest to upgrade them otherwise the end of F16 as a product if it gets a bad name due to the Rafales

@Oscar I noticed you have mentioned weather phenomenon multiple times in the same context with S-400s.........why is this an issue?

I mean, a modern AD system would have radars capable enough to differentiate between weather phenomenon and actual returns, no? Especially the high GHz range they operate at?

The weather phenomenon is predominant when it comes to drone warfare with characteristics like slow speed and weak SNR on track. Thus, the radars can confuse bird activity or weather phenomenon with low rcs and slow moving drones and vice versa.

Then you can tally the weather data with track data to validate whether it is indeed a valid target or not. e.g you would check the presence of clouds and wind direction and wind speed to tally with the movement, speed and height of track.

However, for fighters and large body aircrafts, you usually get solid tracks - again characterized by high speed, high SNR and distict flight profile and flight path.

Now add to it the facts that they were particularly firing S400s in a certain zone and this was a repeat episode and not just one odd incident.

So i believe, they were trying to do something deliberately and terminating own missiles mid flight (amritsar ones) which totally defies reasoning. lol
