Pakistan, Kuwait discuss expanded defence pact: report

During the American occupation of Afghanistan the Indians were invited continuously and they refused, kind of unbelievable when you consider what might have happened.

I am sure the UAE has encouraged further involvement and remember didn't they have a military mou lol

The UAE seems to be so interconnected to the Indian economy it's actually a compelling reason to have much more expanded military ties

Yet the Indians are cautious..... they are worried about something
they have a bad experience with Sri Lanka.. when they sent forces to help against LTTE and had to leave after losing 4000 soldiers.

it is smart of them not to be involved in a fight where there is a chance of taking casualties.

good point, and that is a much smaller territory and familiar home turf

But there is a flipside in consistently staying away, it projects lack of confidence and capability in a tough neighborhood. Every now and again nations have to be risk-taking as the situation demands, or otherwise it passes you by, if you are not at the table you are on the menu, that's more consequential for India given its size, the big power that always stays away, that won't add up too many people

There is no defence pact with any other country currently in the pipeline. At this stage, this appears to be on Kuwait's wish list rather than Pakistan's.

If Kuwait is serious about pursuing such an agreement, it would first need to overhaul several of its policies.
  • Kuwait would need to align its foreign policy much more closely with Pakistan's, particularly on Kashmir, Afghanistan, and India—no ifs or buts.
  • It would also need to make substantial investments in Pakistan's defence industry to help ensure Pakistan has sufficient military capability to meet the needs of both countries.
  • Kuwait would need to invest significantly in Pakistan's economy so that its security partner is not constrained by fiscal pressures.
  • Long-term financial agreements—similar in nature to those that some Arab states have with the US and the UK—would also be expected.
  • In addition, Kuwait would need to offer Pakistan preferential economic and strategic treatment.
These are some of the expectations Pakistan could have. Kuwait, or any other Arab country, does not occupy the same place in the hearts of Pakistanis as Saudi Arabia.
hence i said, people are reading too much into nothing.

The small gcc states are worried about the US disengagement from the region and lack of help when Iran is hitting them so they are trying to find a strategic protector. I think a transactional relationship is ok if Kuwait stops allowing its territory to be used to attack Iran. That should be explicitly - defense does not mean you can let your country be a base to attack a neighbor.

The Rise of the PAF: Asia’s Third Air Power

https://medium.com/@amirhusain_tx?s...e5fbef---------------------------------------
The Pakistan Air Force is on track to become the third most powerful air force in Asia. This is not bravado, or a partisan analysis. It is not conjecture. It is a reality based on cold, hard facts taking shape across nine critical pillars of modern air power. I analyze them all in some depth for the interested reader. 👍

The argument presented here is not that Pakistan has the largest fleet of aircraft — though it has a large fleet, or the most expensive systems, but that it has built a force that is highly sophisticated, internally integrated, strategically autonomous, rapidly modernizing, tremendously well-trained and war-ready. In fact, even when Middle Eastern Asian powers are accounted for, Pakistan’s fighter fleet remains among the largest, most sophisticated and most operationally active. :pakistan:

Do you also consider the US, the UK, France, and Australia to be "rent" states, or is it only when Western countries deploy forces to Arab states that they are viewed as partners, while the Arabs are portrayed as subordinates?

Yet, when Pakistan deploys forces to Arab countries, the narrative suddenly changes: Pakistanis are labelled as the "slaves," while the Arabs are portrayed as their masters.

I genuinely don't understand the logic. Is it driven by anti-Pakistan sentiment, hostility towards the Pakistani military, or simply a double standard? 🤔
Moronic analysis.

Arabs are militarily inept. We should not be expected to hold their hands for eternity. In fact, it is a liability to us. You know full well Pakistan gets nothing from this. NOTHING.

Indeed, it is not even a matter of mutually beneficial military support. If Hindustan attacked us tomorrow, these "pacts" will be worthless. We would not even ask the Arabs for military support - we can handle that without them. All the Arabs would EVER need to do for us is shut off the oil supply and send the Indian workers home. But can you look me in the eye and tell me that the Arabs would ever do that for Pakistan??

I am sick of hearing this nonsense of pacts and security deals. Pakistan has one with KSA - that is enough. Tell the rest of them to sod off.

Sorry, if the color of our skin doesn't set the bar high.

However..., when the shit hits the fan - phli call atti he idr hai.

I think the fair question that needs to be raised is why approch Pakistan in the first place if the US is a "economic and technological superpower" ?

I could be wrong, but in recent years we (Pakistan) are the only nation that has managed to hold its own with the kind of neighbors we have.

I suppose all these Nations are now realizing that.
Again, there is no equivalence between the relationships. Consider the following :
1. How many hundreds of billions of Pakistani weapons do GCC countries buy ?
2. How many trillions of dollars do they invest in the Pakistani stock market and economy ?
3. How much of the Gulf royals' personal wealth is invested in Pakistan
4. How many Gulf royals have graduated from Pakistani universities?
5. How have vacations do the Gulfies taken in Pakistan, except for shikar which is banned everywhere else.
6. How much influence does Pakistan have in the international order to support the Gulf royals in cases like the Khashoggi incident ?
7. How many comapnies like Nvidia, Micron, Intel, Google , Microsoft and others that shape the tecnological evolution of the world. does Pakistan have ?

I have a feeling its a little too late for Kuwait…..
Their visa ban on Pakistani workers and their pandering to the indian govt policies and favoring them is now coming home to roost , iran is pounding them daily these dsys. If their oil infrastructure and the water desalination plants are hit, they’re done and dust…..

Will all their mineral wealth and American defense technology help them avoid the assault from iranian missiles?

Sure the 2 sides can talk, but being an indian lackey will be the elephant in the room…..who bell the cat ?

I don’t think any arab country can reciprocate what Saudi Arabia and Pakistan do for one another, though i still believe the Saudis also need to wake up, they have too many indian workers in their country everywhere which are a potential silent threat due to them being Israeli proxy…..

All these arab countries in mideast have too many of these and they’re are a potential security risk and liability in case of war

Thr first condition would be to reduce and eliminate this risk…….i’m not sure if they would be willing to take care of that first??

India cannot be an imperial power in the Middle East and they do not want to be chowkidaars for Emiratis. Plus, they have learnt their lesson from the disaster of sending Indian troops to Sri Lanka.

Well said brother
I imagine these days many of these gulfies leaderships have the numbers of our chief on Speeddial.
Islamabad is where they need to connect when shit hits the fan and desperation is high.

Its just that the OP doesn't quite understand how this region works and the history of conflict. Sadly a lot of opinions are moulded by watching YouTube videos of tired old babas and overseas buffoon who have an axe to grind.

Regardless, what someone says on PDF or any other platform doesn't change the reality, things are moving and have been moving in a certain direction (AP ko pata hain) and are now moving even faster.

Pakistani military prestige is at it's zenith right now.

We said Saudi was a red line, no attacks on Saudi by Iran this time.

We bested India in 2019 and 2025

In 2024 we hit Iran back hard after it sent a few missiles to Baluchistan.

We have first class Chinese equipment Iran or Israel is not familiar with

We have the ear of the US and Iranian leadership.

Of course Arabs will want to align with us

I am sure India can help them, they banned us from working there in favor of indians so let india sign a defense pact with them & see how it goes. but if they still insist in Pakistan, lets give them an answer after 19 years.
