it is supposed to open up , so the warheads can be released by the upper stage . another proof of the supposed failed launches that i saw in the Indian media was a picture of the first stage lmao . they have a space program yet don't know about these thing

The engineer and rocket nerd in me is so intrigued by this picture.

It definitely LOOKS like the Ababeel payload fairing. It looks intact though and doesn't seem like the standard clamshell separation/jettison type which is strange.

That set of thrusters is also very interesting. They could be from the Post-Boost Vehicle/payload bus since I doubt that they would be used for fairing separation.

Also, looking at the "roughness" / "crudeness" / "build quality" of the thrusters, they're definitely Made in Pakistan.

Would appreciate @JamD's insights.

my guess is that since it is small diameter ( 5.9 ft) this is simpler and cheaper solution to the clamshell design , for eg flacon 9 is 12 ft .

and boosters are at the top and angled downwards ,so they work Like Saturn 5's LES , and effectively lifting the whole payload fairing in one go

Do what's your final verdict, did it fail?

no , Indians are just coping ,no international news has said Ababeel failed , and we first tested it in 2017 if there were problem we probably solved them long time ago . accoridng to US we are also pursuing icbms and if ababeel failed do you think we would go for icbms

these niggas are so dumb man , that is a payload fairing

The fairing seems to be separating at a very high altitude as shown in the graphic.

Would it remain intact after falling on ground from that height?

I think we did got HGV from china there is no way in hell we so suddenly developed an indeginous HGV.
Indians will see some beautiful scenes in the next round

Where did you get that idea?

ababeel is not that high ( 500 km ) , and i am sure we don't release the fairing at apogee .

its a light component , it would not have a a lot of energy when it renters , and as u can see it impacted tip first and fractured

but the biggest reason its not a failed launch , imho is because fairing landed completely alone , with no other parts of the rocket .

Falling from even 100Km should incinerate an object like that. It should definitely have discolouration due to being exposed to such high temperatures. Apart from impact related damage, this looks in pristine condition.
This seems to have fallen from very low altitude.

again this was a test , and we don't know which height it was separated . to say the test failed because the condition of the fairing is griping at straws to say the least .

Agreed.

But to my understanding is, that it was a test of a mature product. All the aspects of the test should have been similar to a real missile.

Let’s wait for subject matter experts like @JamD, put his thoughts on the subject.

Well the fairing is kind off heat shield. So it won't just incinerate during the downward descent, you can also see a tear in the front, anyways wait for @JamD
