They are not flaps, looks like something that goes out of the tube then falls off, in the pic they are falling off but the angle looks like they are flaps.

As I have just been advocating before, its time Pakistan gets its own Air LORA type ALBM coupled with CM-400AKG and also supersonic HD-1 and subsonic Taimoor ALCM's. This will be a huge deadly combo.

There is collaboration with China on it, there was quite a bit of news a while back.

The key elements of why this is exciting is due to the following;
-It has a cost advantage compared to Brahmos, it's lighter and less complex
-Uses solid fuel as opposed to liquid so simplifies storage, handling, and rapid launch procedures compared with it's counterpart
-It can be scaled up much faster

It's a major milestone but the military needs to look further ahead.

Its not quite a stop gap. It is a system designed to fulfill a gao in our arsenal that was indentified last year.

Shaheen 1 or 1A can be used for bunker busting roles but would need quite some development in CEP. The Chinese use similar DF 15/16 style Srbms for bunker busting roles
Shaheen 3 is too big and expensive for bunker busting, even the Indian concept of using large IRBMs for these tasks is not effective in terms of economy of scale.
South Koreans are doing similar things but IMO it's a niche tech so not fit for us.
Improved Shaheen 1 would be quite good in terms of this capability.
Where ABABEEL program is standing in terms of capabilities is known I guess but In terms of how much the process has gone into depth is probably classified.
Tho I think it has been inducted as we saw it in the parade last year.
