400KMs isn't a enough, PN needs to make sure They can't operate in the western Arabian Sea or else they can just park a few ships near the gulf of Aden and turn back in any cargo ships going to Pakistan.

PN needs to invoke sort of a "mutually assured destruction" Ie if you try to sink our cargo vessels going in and out of the straight of Malacca we will sink any of your cargo vessels going in and out of the straight of Hormuz and the Gulf of Aden.

You arent blocking off Aden and gulf with shore based batteries, you need PN ships and sea sultans for that. Baburs and harbahs can hit ships as far out as 700km but they are also limited quantity subsonic options.

Mb i misread. But you will need not just threat of force but actual display of force to demonstrate blockade to india. And india has far more to lose in that equation

Land-attack brahmos can reach 800 km as it flies at high altitude. Anti-ship is limited to 500 km because of sea skimming.

You are right then it's 320 km for anti-ship and 400 km for land-attack. The air launched version (CK310A') is a bit more.

Honestly you can't expect that from Hangors or any other Submarine for that matter. Newer versions of Brahmos land-attack have ranges upto 800km. The Indian Navy can sit comfortably in the Arabian sea and lob these at us. What hangors can potentially do is exact revenge by sinking a enemy ship or submarine in return but for that we need the war to go one for at least a week.

No it isn't if it was PN wouldn't be investing this much in Submarines.

Subs have a much bigger role to play then just to keep their rustbucket carriers away from our water. I would still say a pair of Thunders is enough to keep their carriers away until they get rafales on their decks.

124 brahmos between all these ships. For comparison we only have 16 SS Ashms in our current fleet.

It will be the missiles from PAF which will try to stop them
