ISLAMABAD, Mar 1 (Gwadar Pro) -With help from Iron Brother China, Pakistan is all set to send its first astronaut into space.

This comes after a cooperation agreement was signed on Friday afternoon between the Space & Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) and the China Manned Space Agency (CMSA).

Under the agreement, two Pakistani astronauts will undergo training at the Astronaut Center of China. One will ultimately be selected as a scientific payload specialist for a future mission to Tiangong, China’s space station. The selection process is expected to conclude by 2026.

Once aboard the Chinese Space Station (CSS), the Pakistani astronaut will conduct experiments in medical sciences, aerospace, physics, space radiation, ecology, and astronomy. The research aims to advance space technology and contribute to scientific developments with potential benefits for life on Earth.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif hailed the agreement as a landmark moment in Pakistan’s space programme, describing it as a cornerstone of the country’s aspirations in human spaceflight.

He highlighted Pakistan’s steady progress in space science and technology, citing achievements in satellite launches and contributions to global scientific research.

Minister for Planning & Development Ahsan Iqbal emphasized that the partnership would drive technological innovation and human spaceflight capabilities. He noted that collaboration with China goes beyond astronaut training, laying the foundation for Pakistan’s long-term space exploration ambitions.

CMSA Director General Dr Lin Xiqiang welcomed Pakistan’s participation, underscoring the deepening space cooperation between the two countries. SUPARCO Chairman Mohammad Yousuf Khan described the initiative as a major milestone and encouraged professionals and researchers to contribute to the programme.

Briefing Pakistan's journey in space exploration, Chairman SUPARCO Mohammad Yousuf Khan said Pakistan has its three observation satellites in space, which are fully operational.

Hopefully with any luck they will send the offspring of the PLMN and PPP leaders to orbit (settle Mars?).
Totally agree ! Send Bhutto and Sharif family in space to the Sun to explore its surface. May be our Generals can explore the surface of Jupiter.

Maybe when they become خلائی مخلوق can help Pakistan - clearly no others ones are coming to help this nation.

maybe a member of existing خلائی مخلوق will be selected as an astronaut. the خلائی مخلوق is already helping pakistan in all fields.

Two Pakistani astronauts to receive spaceflight training in China

BEIJING, April 23 (Xinhua) -- China will select and train two Pakistani astronauts for space missions, with one slated to serve as a payload specialist on a future Chinese space station flight, the China Manned Space Agency (CMSA) announced on Wednesday.

The selected Pakistani astronaut will conduct scientific experiments designed by Pakistan while performing regular crew responsibilities when in orbit, CMSA spokesperson Lin Xiqiang told a press conference in Jiuquan in northwest China.

The selection process for Pakistani astronauts is underway following the signing of a bilateral cooperation agreement in late February, Lin said.

The selection involves a three-round procedure that includes a preliminary selection phase in Pakistan, and secondary and final selection phases in China, Lin said.

Lin noted that China is currently engaged in discussions with other nations regarding potential foreign astronaut participation in the country's future space station missions.

Payload specialist.
This should be a scientist rather than a pilot. So, it is highly likely that a PAF pilot is excluded.

Joint flight.
I guess it means that 2 Chinese astronauts + 1 Pakistani astronaut will enter the Chinese Tiangong space station for a standard six-month space mission.

Two Pakistani astronauts came to China for training, and one of them will take part in the joint mission, which means the other is in backup status.

@Michael does China have any plans to explore underwater oceans of moons in our solar system for potential signs of life? or to send solar sails etc to other stars?

Pakistan should definitely join Chinese space endeavors.

American space program is in decline, trump is slashing funds for NASA and giving musk a monopoly to colonize mars and sell air defence systems.

I don't know how to answer you...

1. In the current scientific exploration, it is clearly confirmed that there is water on the moon. But this "water" does not exist in the form we are familiar with. It is very difficult to transform the "water" on the moon into a form that we are familiar with, but China is doing relevant research.
2. China has other exploration missions in aerospace science. If you are interested, you can check the relevant information.
3. In fact, the things made by humans have not yet left the solar system.......

In your lifetime and mine, we might see humans land on Mars, but that’s about it.

Europa is believed to have a liquid ocean under the ice crust

is there any Chinese development in this regard, because the US is already developing breakthrough starshot

China's space development is relatively pragmatic, and the development route also chooses a relatively safe plan. Usually, we do not choose overly aggressive plans.
At present, China mainly invests in the moon and Mars, and has some investment in other areas, but it is relatively small. You can check the relevant introduction on Wikipedia. (The Chinese version is more comprehensive than the English version, but it needs to be translated.)
