Is true this is total BS kind of a decision.... But I can't imagine PAF is doing this ....

I was also expecting them to upgrade them soon. Why I am having a feeling that PAF may retire them and hand them over to Pakistan Navy and now they operate them?

Why would the navy want them...

The navy made it pretty clear that the Lineage 1000E will be used as the platform for AEW. PN will likely procure 6-7 Sea Sultan, then another 3-4 Sea Sultan AEW imo with SAAB antennas.

I suspect the ZDK were bought as training tools, or to be fair, just did not live up to the performance needs of the PAF, thus, time to scrap them.

What your source/backup of your claim that PN could induct sea sultan based AWACS, after inducting sea sultan MPA? Or you're having assumptions?

This is the first time I am reading it

Makes little sense in retiring new aircraft, even if they are not as capable as Erieye ones, the are still able to provide radar coverage, even if it's rudimentary, as you better believe it, PAF will suffer high attrition in any conflict. The cost of operations can't be that much for what's basically a transport aircraft, akin to PAF flying a handful of CN235s.
Also makes little sense of them not being able to talk to JF-17s and J-10s, which are half of the fighter strength.

Sir I agree. Get them upgraded instead of retiring them.

They are much slower than the SAAB2Ks, They are costlier to operate, the only benefit they had was that they provided 360 degree coverage.
At this point it is said that it was cheaper to acquire Erieyes than to upgrade the KE03s.
Furthermore we already have an MRO setup for Saab2Ks, so the cost outweighs the benefit of keeping the KE03s flying. Saab 2000 AEW & C-2.jpeg

tbf even the 360 degree coverage is not something which is a major benefit anyway, theyll be flying a pattern which ensures view of the battlespace

Why would the PAF operate sub par equipment they're not happy with? There are costs and resources associated with doing so-have you forgotten the H-6 saga?
