Amid gender row, boxing body to award prize money to Carini despite Olympics loss to Khelif

Amid gender row, boxing body to award prize money to Carini despite Olympics loss to Khelif

International Boxing Association, stripped of its recognition by Olympic committee last year, to award Italian player who lost against Algeria's Khelif.

The International Boxing Association (IBA) will award Italy’s Angela Carini, who lost her welterweight round-of-16 bout against Algerian Imane Khelif at the Paris Olympics in 46 seconds on Thursday, $50,000 in prize money, it said Friday.

Carini pulled out in the first round after the Algerian, who is at the heart of a gender row, pummelled the Italian with a barrage of punches.

The IBA, which was stripped of its international recognition by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) last year, said Carini would receive $50,000, her federation a further $25,000 and her coach an additional $25,000.

China has missed out at least half of its potential gold medals, many just be a hair length, this is a rather terrible Olympic for China.

As for Shaccari, I knew she’d lose when she stepped up to the blocks. Looked scared and lacked confidence. Sports psychology is everything at the Olympics and world championships are nothing compared to the Olympics. Pressure is everything at the Olympics because the entire world is watching.

Algerian boxer Imane Khelif won her women’s 66kg welterweight quarterfinal bout by unanimous points decision against Hungary’s Anna Luca Hamori on Saturday, guaranteeing herself an Olympic medal in front of a near-capacity crowd that ardently had her back.

Before the match even started, fans were chanting in support of Khelif during previous matches and when she entered the ring they unleashed their biggest roar of the day at the North Paris Arena in Villepinte. Hamori, meanwhile, received boos and jeers from Khelif’s supporters as well as a smattering of applause as she made her way into the ring.

Bro she concentrates on too much swag and social media BS. She was trashed in the final easily.

Well done Alfred!
