If there was going to be anything like that then the Army would have killed Nawaz Sharif upon his arrest in 1999.
The state understands the consequences of such decisions and would not risk killing him

The Americans have warned them not to kill Khan, so what will most likely happen is Khan will just stay in jail till he dies of old age in 10-20 years (or he does a U turn and strikes a deal with the same devil who brought him to power to begin with)

Slow poisoning is the worst way imaginable to kill some enemy. There are too many variables. If army wants IK dead then this is the last rout they would like to take.
First of all it may take years and yet there is no guarantee.
Secondly it is traceable even after hundreds of years.
So if they have an iota of intellect they may use poisons with temporary effects which are cleared from system in a few days.

Not the Army. There is no proof of their involvement. (Such conspiracy theories are cooked in Pakistani kitchens).
He was not the first Prime Minister attempted to be killed. Even General Parvez Musharraf faced assassination attempts 3-4 times, so is that mean the politicians tried to kill him?
Imran Khan has a vote of sympathy after what happened to him, he does not have a vote of performance for whatever period he was the PM. He was losing the by-elections just before he was ousted. (I hope he is given another chance to prove his worth but the fact is, the economy did horrible during his tenure).
Nawaz Sharif on the other hand had a strong support from public including the credit for nuclear test, motorways, hydropower projects and a lot of construction work. The Army didn’t kill him who was apparently a greater threat at that time.
Time has changed and now Imran Khan is Nawaz Sharif of 1999 but he is not a threat to establishment and hence no reason to kill him. Only thing he wants right now is that someone from Army speak to him and they are refusing

Wo woo wooo hold on hold on. You are still living in a fool's paradise. Last two years what they are doing to people of Pakistan I have never seen in any occupied territory apart from Palestine, Indian occupied Kashmir and you are still thinking that they are not behind all these things. I pray for your wisdom
