Rafale Fighter Jets To Roll Out From Mihan-SEZ In Nagpur 🇮🇳, says Gadkari

The reality was more nuanced and different. Indian government wanted France to take guarantee of the planes that HAL would produce. France balked at it.
In so many words, the same thing I said. 😉

Not really, France did not care about reputation or bullshit like that. It cared about liability of India asking it for Rafale not made in France.

India is such a bad reputation country, its done terrible things with the viking engine....sacre bleu look how its all failed and brought disrepute to us....zut alors.

These Rafale are for the air force allocation right, no navy jets yet?
The present negotiations are for purchase of 26 Rafales ( 22 Rafale M + 4 Rafale B) for the navy

However IAF Sent a proposal just before Macron's visit for a joint Airforce - Navy order for 90 jets with TOT and domestic production

It was this which Gadkari was talking about
Though nothing will be signed before Indian Elections in April

What does this mean for more rafale orders in future
I'm betting on rafale F5 with wingman drones as our answer to Chinese fifth gen fighters until 2040

Is there a timeline on this i.e. jets rolled out?
One thing about the French they do deliver to customers. They are the best bet when it comes to India's own engine project.
As things stand now
Dassault will deliver 22 Rafale M and 4 Rafale B to Indian Navy in fly away condition, with deliveries starting in 2027-2028
Indian Finance Minister in her budget speech had announced that money for 26 Rafales has been allocated out of this year's capital expenditure on defense.

IAF will likely get approval for 90 Rafales F5s , with them being Rolled out of Dassault's Indian faclities in 2030

The F5's are IAF destined right?

Yes,

Indian Navy is getting the Rafale F4 Standard, similar to UAE
since this was the configuration which they tested in 2022-23.

Rafale F5 will be available starting 2029-30
