Starting a submarine arm from scratch os very very hard, even major nations like Malaysia, Indonesia and even Iran, South Korea and Egypt have only got into the game relatively recently. Very recently in the case of Malays and Indonesians

As we know its not just a case of buying subs and getting men trained.

A good submarine with a well trained crew can not just bring havoc to an enemy fleet and deny vast areas, but will also force the enemy to dedicate a disproportionate amount of resources in hunting them.

Nope, Indonesia has already had submarine long time ago since Soekarno era. Do you guys forget Indonesia sending 2 submarines to help Pakistan 1965 war ?

We basically change the source from Soviet Union during Soekarno period into Western source ( Germany ) during the next 32 years of Soeharto regime.

Nope, Indonesia has already had submarine long time ago since Soekarno era. Do you guys forget Indonesia sending 2 submarines to help Pakistan 1965 war ?

My bad, I thought teh German subs were the first Indonesia operated

I guess Saudi Arabia needs atleast 16 submarines as it has large western and eastern flanks with sea.... I heard gulf is quite shallow for submarines operation.... is this the reason they didn't focus on submarines?

Imagine with the money power Saudi got what kind of submarine fleet they can build within a short span.....
