Experts told about changes in the structure of the Russian car market in January

58ec29a5-670-0.jpg

The experts of the analytical agency "AUTOSTAT" reported how the structure of the new passenger car market changed in the first month of 2024. Thus, in January of this year the share of legal entities decreased: if a year ago it was 20.8% of the total sales volume, now it is 17.2%.
Sergey Udalov, Executive Director of "AUTOSTAT" agency, notes that this may be due to the fact that corporate purchases were made in December, and the budget for the current year has not yet been approved in all companies.
Accordingly, the share of individuals, on the contrary, increased from 79.2% to 82.8%. In addition, in January there is a change in the market structure by body type. For example, the share of station wagons increased significantly for the year - from 64% (in January 2023) to 70% (in January 2024). Sergey Udalov attributes this to the growth in sales of Chinese cars on the Russian market. The whole point is that the "Chinese" are represented mainly in the SUV segment, where models with the body type "station wagon" are offered. But the share of hatchbacks/leafbacks has halved - from 14% to 7%.
There have been certain changes in the market structure by fuel type. Thus, the share of sales of diesel-powered cars fell 2.5 times - from 4.1% to 1.6%. At the same time, the share of hybrids and electric cars in the market increased. For the former, this indicator increased almost 4 times (from 1.1% to 4.3%), and for the latter - more than twice (from 0.8% to 1.9%).

The cluster will be launched already. Some of the cluster's enterprises will be launched as early as 2024. The phased implementation of the plan is aimed at achieving a localization level of over 90%. The cluster enterprises will provide a full production cycle, starting from casting and ending with the production of individual car interior elements.
The project to create production of electric cars and car components is being implemented under a special investment contract between Avtotor, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation and the government of the Kaliningrad Region. The volume of investments for the implementation of the announced plans, taking into account the existing investment commitments, amounts to more than 70 billion rubles.

AVTOVAZ will restore production of full-featured versions of all LADA models in 2024

fc2be41d-670-0.jpg

AVTOVAZ has completed the transition to a reliable alternative supplier of airbags for LADA Vesta and LADA Granta. According to the press service of the enterprise, from February 7, 2024 all LADA Vesta, coming off the assembly line of AVTOVAZ, are equipped with two airbags. Upon completion of the cycle of necessary tests and calibrations, the return of the driver's airbag on the LADA Granta will occur by the end of February 2024, and the front passenger - in March.
Recall that failures with the supply of airbags occurred in mid-autumn 2023, when a foreign supplier refused to ship products due to direct sanctions imposed against AVTOVAZ. Thanks to prompt preventive actions, the company managed to accumulate a sufficient stock of these components, which covered the needs of production almost until the end of last year.
Also, a reliable alternative supplier was quickly found, whose airbags underwent a full cycle of tests before being put into production. As Maxim Sokolov, President of AVTOVAZ, noted, 2024 will be in many ways a breakthrough year in achieving technological sovereignty in components and options, import supplies of which have become unavailable due to the introduction of the sanctions regime. "For example, already in March we will start producing Vesta with an updated LADA 1.8 EVO engine and automatic transmission, in the third quarter we plan to return to LADA Vesta ESP system, rain and light sensors and many other comfort options.
By the end of the year, we expect to equip Granta with climate and cruise control systems, update interior trim materials. But, perhaps, the most important thing will be to improve the safety of cars of the legendary Niva family - tests and works on equipping Legend and Travel models with airbags are in the active phase", - Maxim Sokolov told. Recall that in the second half of 2023, together with the Russian supplier - Itelma company, AVTOVAZ returned all LADA models to the environmental standard "Euro-5", which "with reserve" exceeds the current requirements of technical regulations in Russia.
