The former Continental plant in Kaluga has completed the rebranding process and is now called Gislaved. The enterprise has joined the tyre cluster created on the basis of JSC "Cordiant" and united tyre plants in Yaroslavl, Omsk, Kaluga region (formerly Continental AG) and in Ulyanovsk (formerly Bridgestone), the press service of the company reports. It is planned that in 2024 Gislaved plant in Kaluga region will produce 2.1 million car tyres (+12% in compare with the previous year).
The maximum capacity of the plant is 3.5 million tyres per year. Pavel Borodatov, the director of Gislaved tyre plant, told TASS agency that taking into account the growth of production volumes, the company plans to increase its production staff by 10% to 1.1 thousand people by the end of 2024. According to him, almost all employees who worked under the management of the former owner, after rebranding remained at the enterprise. In turn, Vadim Volodin, General Director of JSC "Cordiant" told Interfax that by the end of this year the company intends to launch tyre plant located in Ulyanovsk, formerly owned by Bridgestone.
The production plan for 2025 will be about 1.2 million tyres. The projected capacity of the plant is 2.4 million tyres per year. "The goal of the Cordiant tyre cluster is to load production capacity as efficiently as possible and by 2026, using the synergy of the assets included in the cluster, to cover all segments - from economy to premium - with the product line of passenger car, light truck and truck tyres," said Vadim Volodin. Another important strategic direction that Cordiant tyre cluster plans to develop is import substitution, development of new technologies and formulations thanks to the experience of its own STC "Intair". At present, engineers at the Intair Research and Development Centre are actively working on the development of a local premium tyre. The assortment matrix of the new premium brand will start from 16 inch.
As previously reported by AUTOSTAT, the tyre company acquired by PJSC Tatneft from Finnish Nokian Tyres plc announced a name change and rebranding of its products. Under the terms of the license agreement, the company must stop using all trademarks and names owned by Nokian Tyres plc, except for the Nordman brand. The new brand name will be Ikon or Ikon Tyres.
