Yep, Tesla is brand recognition like Apple, and Musk cannot find any supply chain more perfect than China's, hence he prefers to stick his business in China, unless if the US government is forcing him at gunpoint.

The US can no longer let China to control the global supply chain as China will keep using this leverage to break through into anything, even the EUV lithography that is controlled by the aggregated western alliance.

The rare earth supply chain will be remained firmly gripped by China if the global supply chain also remains at China's hand.

An electric car has about 10,000 parts from big to small. Good luck to make them all in America. a Tesla car would cost $100,000.
But I am a fan of risk management. Giving Ccp too much control of supply chain is not good, either.
