Russia-Ukraine War - News, Discussions & Updates

Ukraine in its absolute emergency mode could raise another 1-2 million strong army. But the problem is, they won't have nearly enough weapons to equip them or nearly enough money to pay for their salaries.

And it's still likely only able to prolong the war for another 2-3 years before again the classic complaints about manpower started to bite.

Drafting 1 to 2 million men will collapse the birth rate and make it negative.

The EU plans to give Ukraine 40 billion euros.

40 billion is too little. They need 400 billion at least.

Russia has had a x6-10 advantage in artillery usage throughout the war. And between 70-80% of casualties is the result of artillery, yet we're told Russia has x3 or even 4x the casualty rate. Just in case you thought the casualty numbers aren't just made up nonsense.

First of all, you do know % of casualty have no relation to the number, right? Because you can talk about 8000 casualty and the casualty rate is 7-80% if the total number is 100000 or 800000 the total number from that same 7-80%.if the number is 1000000

Beside, the advantage now is not 6 to 10 advantages, it's at best 3x now , you can calculate that from the round drop per month.

And finally, you are still talking about 1 to 3 disadvantages in the conventional estimation if the invader HAVE both Artillery and Air Superiority.......Without either one this will become 1 to 5 and without both this will become 1 to 10

According to some western analysts the Russians have far more artillery and munitions. Why would people then say they have more casualties than the Ukrainian army?

Artillery has always been the big killer in warfare. It also causes a high percentage of the badly wounded because of the massive blast radius and shrapnel.

Artillery is semi direct. it is aimed at an area, normally. Not a particular person.

That means it is used against massed enemy formations like platoon or battalion sized units.

Some of the shells being lobbed at these men contain 100-200 lbs of modern high explosive.

By contrast a hand grenade, which is a very deadly weapon contains at most half a pound of TNT PETN or RDX.

I don't know the data exactly but I wouldn't want to be within 50 yards of a 203mm shell when it lands.

That's a huge damage radius.

Drones are the new deadliest weapon on the battlefield now Ukrainians are facing.

Then you've got mortars, grenades, bombs, rockets, missiles.

Men carry rifles into battle but they kill each other with the big guns.
That's because we aren't actually fighting WW2 or WW1 today, artillery have little effect on prepared defensive position(eg concret steel reinforced bunbker). Prepared Defensive position plays both side. But when you are an attacker, you are required to move out of your prepared position to attack (otherwise you will just be sitting in your line and they are sitting intheirs) and that's where the casualty number is from. You will be attacked when you are out in the open, being ambushed.

Artillery and Air power on your own side only serve to NEGATE the effect so you don't suffer more casualty than you have to, no war fought in 21st century where you can level a town and walk in unopposed. Because even if you do, the line behind, and around will still be able to attack you once you are out of your PDP. So Russia is ALWAYS going to suffer more casualty than Ukraine, just how many more is the question here, again, refer to the conventional estimation on previous post

The only way Ukraine is losing more men to Russia is if the Ukrainian is retarded. But seeing Russian still not manage to achieve 'their war aim almost 3 years now, even tho it has shifted 3 times and then get themselves invaded as well, that's unlikely this is the case

With (cheap) drone technology everything changed. In maybe past 30 years ago every soldier dug his own foxhole. Nowadays if you bunch together in a trench you become a tempting target. New innovations will always change the battlefield. the Russians are hitting the trenches with drone strikes. They haven't taken anywhere near the losses Ukraine has. Artillery has always been the biggest killer on the battlefield since the First World War; the proliferation and use of Russian drones as seen in Ukraine has made artillery even deadlier. Where the Russians have clearly a bigger advantage compared to their opponents.

The FPV drones of today are the precursors of killer drones of tomorrow. If you ever watch the movie Screamers you know what I know.

dude, you are not talking about 500000 drone striketo make up the difference.............also, you still need to penetrate the PDP, tell me if a 155 round cannot effectively penetrate a PDP, how a drone with a grenade can? Russian soldier disguise that drone as ubereat?

Again, we aren't talking about WW1 style trench warfare, where soldier fight in open trench, we are talking about ambush point, prepared firing position, strong point, not just foxhole.

Damn right. DRONES are the present and the future. And PTSD from a buzzing sound will be a new symptom.

40 billion is too little. They need 400 billion at least.
Lets wait. The west has seized 260 billion euros from Putin. This mountain of money generates 4 billion euros a year in earnings. Those money will end up eventually in Ukraine pocket.
Every day war costs Russia about 1 billion euros.
Don’t forget the economic losses on Russia economy. The destruction of gas pipelines, the halt of gas transit, western sanctions are in trillions of euros on Russia.
