Observe the timeline:-Friday: Zelensky throws a fit and refuses to sign minerals deal at White House.-Saturday/Sunday: Zelensky runs off to London to beg for money from Europe, they give him a minuscule amount of funds and tell him to go beg Trump for forgiveness.-Monday: Trump says that if Zelensky does not come to the table ready for peace, then he will “not be around very long”. Hours later, Trump cuts off all weapons sales, aid, funding, stockpiles, etc., until Zelensky is committed to a ceasefire and peace deal.-Today: Zelensky is ready to commit to a peace deal, first thing this morning.You just witnessed the Art of the Deal play out in real time.Trump is holding all the cards, and forced Zelensky to submit. Zelensky was trying to play games and keep this war going, so Trump dropped the hammer on him. My country Uk has around 19,000 active duty infantry. 1/3 rotation. 1/3 on the front line. 1/3 in reserve and 1/3 on rest. 6,000 uk troops at best could probably guard Kiev for a week

UK has around 73,000 active personnel. If UK annouces emergency they can increase the force easily, they have the money, manpower and technology. Ukraine currently has 700,000 active personnel but before the war they had way less.

Agree with Kofman, loss of US military aid will be less felt at the front, and more in the long range strike and air defense capabilities in the medium term.

Ukraine achieved fires parity with Russia over the last 6 months as Ukraine has rapidly ramped its drone production and Western shell production has ramped.

Loss of HIMARS and Patriot capability will be felt over the medium term(6+ months) as those capabilities are currently irreplaceable. The US did front load those capabilities at the end of Biden’s term, so Ukraine should be fine for now, but in 6+ months it becomes a real problem.

None of us wants an endless war. Ukraine is ready to come to the negotiating table as soon as possible to bring lasting peace closer. Nobody wants peace more than Ukrainians. My team and I stand ready to work under President Trump’s strong leadership to get a peace that lasts.

We are ready to work fast to end the war, and the first stages could be the release of prisoners and truce in the sky — ban on missiles, long-ranged drones, bombs on energy and other civilian infrastructure — and truce in the sea immediately, if Russia will do the same. Then we want to move very fast through all next stages and to work with the US to agree a strong final deal.

We do really value how much America has done to help Ukraine maintain its sovereignty and independence. And we remember the moment when things changed when President Trump provided Ukraine with Javelins. We are grateful for this.

Our meeting in Washington, at the White House on Friday, did not go the way it was supposed to be. It is regrettable that it happened this way. It is time to make things right. We would like future cooperation and communication to be constructive.

The UK lost 20,000 soldiers in the Crimean war. Politically it would be a disaster to lose 20,000 soldiers in the 21st century especially considering how unpopular Keir Starmer already is.
