5 airfield attacked, the furthest one is next to Mongolia (I hear) that mean they have asset that deep, compare to the US back in 2001, we weren't at war with anyone, you can say we are not expecting someone to fly plane into World Trade Center back in 2001. Russia is at war with Ukraine since 2022, the fact that they allowed Ukrainian to bring a truck full of drone full of explosive over the border or somehow allowing them to armed up inside Russia that's itself is unforgivable, because you expect Ukraine to attack like this, and they have done something like this with the Kerch Bridge, and yet the Russian let it repeat, this is actually worse than 9/11, it's like we let people to hijack plane again by keeping those cockpit unlock and hit some other building after 2001, they are allowing someone to repeat the same attack profile twice and the cheery on the cake is that they hit 5 airfield at the same time, knowing where their strategic asset is.........

IF you have the truck sending in those drones, that mean there are people controlling those truck (assuming the truck don't drive themselves inside Russia) and that's very logically assume those people controlling the truck control the drone locally.

The attack is pre-planned, which mean they send the truck to those airfields with an intention, those truck are going to hit something whether or not the bomber were there, those are pre-determined target after a few weeks or months observation.

If Poutine does launch a nuclear strike on Ukraine, all the Western powers will help Ukraine in ways Poutine never seen before. That is, assuming Poutine is not taken out by the Russian military before making that decision.

I am not comparing the severity level of the incident, I am comparing the intel failure between the 2.

Ukraine is at war with Russia, EVERYTHING coming from that side is going to be in a heightened security states, for all intend and purpose, this attack SHOULD NOT had happened, GRU or FSB (probably the FSB is more responsible) should have leads into this attack, this is not 5 truck drivers waking up one day and decided to go YOLO and load up with drone and attack those airfield, this is planned attack, ahead with a lot of intelligence gathering, those airfield weren't chosen at random, this is chosen for a purpose, which mean there are process involved, and it's the intelligence community that should have suss out that process, they didn't. Again, back in 2001, we can say we weren't at war and probably can use it as an excuse to letting 9/11 happen, this is not, especially when Ukraine had done it before.

On the other hand, severity talks probably went out the window when Ukraine actually and physically invade Russia when they were invading Kursk back in 2024 and Belgorod in 2025, it's WAY too late to talk about severity. Which by the way, is stated doctrine of how or why Russia would use their nuclear weapon.
