Kievan Rus are the progenitors of the modern Russians, not Ukrainians. Kiev is a Russian city, not Ukrainian. Prior to the rise of the USSR, "Ukraine" was term for the nebulous western borderlands between Russian slavic influence and East Europe (Polish/Lithuania Commonwealth, Swedes, Hungarians, Romanians etc). Their may be a dialect & cultural difference between the ethnic Russian lands in the Kiev and Moscow regions of influence, but it was only skin deep. These contemporary divergences are a transient thing, initially driven by Leninist bolshies desire to de-emphasise the Russian identity in the new USSR and create a seperate Ukrainian identity (incorporating Tsarist-era Novorossiya intp the newly created Ukrainian SSR in 1922, and then Kruschev transferring Crimea in 1954), and also by the inclusion of non-Russian ex-Hapsberg European peoples as part of an expanded West Ukraine. Since 1991 the divergence has been a deliberate policy of the West in concert with Ukrainian nationalists from the ex-Hapsberg regions, driven by a toxic mix of geopolitical conflict, race hate and latent ethnic supremacy in those who cling to Banderite ideology.

The idea that "Ukrainians" are more fearsome than "Russians" is like saying our right foot is superior to our left.

Are you really suggesting that a nation that can maintain an independent manned space program, or can develop its own 100% indigenous aeropsace & defense industry, is somehow incapable of making its own domestic white goods?



Just because you don't know any Russian brand names (made in Russia for its domestic market and not exported) doesn't mean that such brands don't exist. This is just our stupid propagandists (like this credentialled idiot Sarah paine) leveraging the unrivalled ignorance of Western audiences to try and score some points in the (useless) anti-Russian inforwar.

Fun fact: I did consider joining the Ukrainian Defence Force back in 2022 and talked to a Commander with the 95th, who I actually know from my previous deployment in Iraq. He told me I shouldn't, not because he was afraid that I was gonna get killed, but because he thinks I am going to be "Lost" to the war and end up being a war junkie.

Nominal GDP is better for knowing how much dollars can this economy buy on world markets, how well it can service foreign debt or import stuff, PPP is better for how much stuff is actually produced and consumed inside the country (rent, food or T-72B3Ms cost far less in Moscow or Delhi than in NYC).

PPP is about affordability; you can produce something cheap, but you may still not be able to afford it, depending on your currency base. And in countries that don't produce much stuff, that is a pointless measurement of productivity.

Just because a Big Mac is 20 RMB and 8 Australian dollars (= 40 RMB) it does not mean China produces or consumes more Big Macs (Which co-incidentally probably true due to the population of China is multiple hundred times than in Australia); that means it was cheaper in value in China. It only means they are more affordable in China. But then the term "Affordability" is also relative; it really depends on how much you make.

Nominal GDP measures the overall economic status of a country. This means how much your country produces in general.
