Russia - Ukraine war part ll. News and Discussions

Yes - aid provided to Ukraine by US and EU and allies totals $382 bln since 2022 and it's not just military equipment but also civilian one and financial aid.

Russia has not received a comparable amount.
Wonder how much went to Zelenskys personal account?

Well, this war lasted 5 years, in an active combat stage, and still the best Russia can hope for at this point is to take the whole Donbas.
No, the plan is to collapse Ukraine as a viable state and impose a Russia-mandated solution that ticks Russias boxes and deliver a strategic defeat to the US/EU/NATO b'stardz who engineered this conflict and have done everything possible to stoke it further in a bid to collapse the Russian state.
On the other hand, what does Russia "achieve" even after they have completely taken Donbas? Add 20% of Ukrainian territories in their territories? And completely lost 80% of Ukraine? Or do you think in your crazy mind Ukrainian would simply forget about this and make friends with Russia again in the future? Or even crazier, think Russia can push all the way to Kyiv?
Ukraine will collapse and Russia will take everything east of the Dnepr, plus cross the river to liberate Nikolayev and Odessa, and take Kiev (the proper spelling). Russia doesn't want ex-Hapsberg regions as those people have nothing in common with the historical Russian world, so they will be cut loose, though any such "rump Ukraine" (minus Hungarian, Romanian, Moldovan areas) will have restrictions placed upon it and a refusal to stay in their lane will incur... penalities...

BTW if Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan can be converted post-WW2 into friendly (and subservient) states then you're barmy if you think that post-bandera Ukraine in the Russian zone won't be reclaimed and fully redeemed.

I don't see the need or want to keep talking to you.

Well, we can agree on somethings it seems... Hit the road nazi-lover.

Ukraine turned out to be a bigger threat then NATO. Not sure what security threat NATO in Ukraine would pose to Russia that Ukraine has not already inflicted on Russia. Over half a million Russian troops dead and we should believe that NATO in Ukraine would be a bigger threat to Russia?
The primary strategic threat is one of forward basings of US rapid reaction nuclear strike forces. Imagine a unified banderite Ukraine joining NATO and inviting the US to base nuclear-tipped hypersonic missiles in Kharkov oblast? 4 minutes flight time to Moscow... a threat projection that makes US neocons literally soil their y-fronts in excitement...

Keep in mind that Little Blinken, Bidens Sec of State, openly stated that the US will assert the rights to base any missile in a NATO Ukraine that they wish, and that Russia shall have no veto. Only a whacked-out nutjob could not see how such a hypothetical poses a totally unacceptable exitential threat. Capabillity? Check. Stated Intentions? Check.

The US elites had a meltdown when Cuba requested Soviet nukes as a safeguard against a potential US invasion. The Soviets agreed as it gave them a counter to (secret) US missiles based in Eastern Turkey. We are supposed to accept the US threats to trigger an nuclear exchange if their blockade was challenged, yet NAFO clowns insist that Russia has no legitimate security concerns from US nukes on their land border?

Pathetic exceptionalist thinking that the world will no longer accept. :devilish:

Some more gains for the rebels in Donbas.
Its nice to see gains, but the important factor is always the loss ratio. Its an imperitive to preserve manpower while eradicating the enemies manpower, equipment, and eventually their ability to resist.

The West is pouring hundreds of billions of USD/Euro into keeping their Project on track, but they have lost the critical geo-political and geo-economic battles, and they cannot achieve a victory on the physical battlefield. Infowar efforts are ultimately pointless as with the exception of radicalising a certain proportion of the home audience, it does nothing against an adversary that has superior hard-power, has manufacturing dominance, has a solid economy (still functioning as an autarkic peacetime economy with positive growth, low debt and small budget deficits). The West can only win if they can manage to break the Russian will to win, and that simply won't happen. Moscow elites have given up on finding an accomodation with a ruthless, conniving, untrustworthy, agreement-incapable Western elites, and Russias people are near 100% behind the need to WIN.

The trajectory will be back-and-forth positional battles, but with Russians steadily advancing and the Ukrainians being attritioned into dogmeat. The bandera-nazi Kiev regime will be thrown down, but the damage that gets inflicted will be proprotional to how obsessively both they and their Western backers attempt to cling to power and fulfill their fantasies of breaking Russia and absorbing the pieces.

I know many so called military analysts have said the war is slow going and Russia should have taken the country by now. However people are quick to forget Russia isn't just fighting Ukraine had Russia been fighting Ukraine alone without support the war would be over years ago. Ukraine has multiple sources of support, mercenaries, NATO intelligence, NATO personnel within the country in support and advisory roles, huge financial support, and huge amounts equipment, munitions, and fuel, they also get support from western charities. Russia on the other hand had some support from China, Iran, North korea but nothing on the scale of what Ukraine has had from the west, and it hasn't been free handouts either but rather trade deals, no charities helping, a very small mercenary/volunteer element, zero financial support, and faced the biggest sanctions package theveirkd had ever seen, yet thry have managed to keep going, the economy is surving, and arms production is higher than nato combined, while Ukraines economy and military production is almost at a standstill. And the west are still buying russian oil and gas through the back door, Ukraine is facing a naval blockade, a huge energy crisis, and have total disregard for it's population and troops. Russia as Gazza mentioned is playing the attrition game, this is a normal tactic and reduces your casualties it's not something new. Taking land comes when the situation is favourable hence the slower speed. And let's not forget Ukraine had years and years to plan, prepare defences in the Donbass and other areas, that's not something anyone is going to be foolish enough to run into head long into without mass casualties. Russia has also developed various military systems during the war and still fulfilled foreign orders, just recently delivered a squadron of Su-35 to Ethiopia a year ahead of schedule. Yet the western media keeps telling us Russian military production is in a terrible state. The fact that Russia is firing off missiles and drones in huge quantities on a daily basis tells you something, and tanks, aircraft, and munitions are still being delivered is another good sign things aren't as bad as the west make out.
Tbf, what Iran has done for Russia is massive, by (a) diverting NATO resources away from Ukraine, and (b) forcing some hostile nations into a position where they are again obliged to purchase Russian commodities. Western Europe is probably far more committed to the sanctions effort than the USA ever would be.

Interesting, the world is moving towards AI revolution, meanwhile Putin and his stooges continue sticking to stealing lands from other countries. Sending tank ships with diesel to help Trump was not working. That’s about beating US imperialism.

Without the charity Ukraine begs for - it would have been mince meat. Once again you throw figures of half a million without proof.
Early on, there were very credible estimates based on the number of freshly dug graves in Russia. Then, the Russians moved in mobile crematoriums. So at this point, who knows?

Since then, without actual eyes on verification, most of what gets posted here I consider to be rubbish.

The Russians know how many casualties they've incurred and they aren't saying.

NATO thinks they know how many casualties the Russians are incurring. And, they are likely wrong.

Casualty estimates Vietnam style continue to this day.

What will a Democratic Congress mean for Ukraine?

While Donald Trump’s party suffered a stinging defeat in midterm elections this week, his efforts to end the war in Ukraine continue as negotiators from the US, Russia and Ukraine are set to meet in Abu Dhabi next week. With Democrats now in control of both chambers of Congress, lawmakers are looking to use their spending and oversight powers to bolster support for Ukraine and impose further sanctions on the Russian economy.

Democrats on Capitol Hill are looking to put together a new package of security assistance for Kyiv, which one Democratic aide on the House foreign affairs committee put to be in the range of $15bn.

Democrats seeking a $15B package for Ukraine.

Ukraine wont be able to buy much with that my little comical ali.

That’s $15B in weapons/support the US would be sending. That’s a lot of money that will buy plenty of weapons for Ukraine. That’s already a quarter of what the US sent over 3 years under Biden.
