The story not what this title says. They did not had s * x. Even Saudi official statement doesn't say that.
Apperantly, they were kissing inside the mosque. And a Pakistani who was roommate with the sentenced male recorded the incident and sent to Saudi authority.
They were sentenced to death under Taa'jeer punishment. If they had sex, they would receive حد punishment under Sharia law.
Now kissing inside mosque is indeed immoral act. But the punishment of execution far exceed just cause.
This however fits in broader trend of how Bangladeshi migrant workers are treated. Living aside the fact often they are forced to live in inhuman condition, In many cases women workers are treated as sex slaves. There are hundreds of verified stories of repeated torture and rapes over extended period of times by Saudi employers. But not one Saudi national was convicted. In many cases, highly suspicious deaths are brushed off. Bodies with bruises and stuff. Saudi police even refuse to open any investigation.
The issue is not just this unjust punishment in particular. It is about how migrants workers from poor countries are treated in general. Specially those from BD. (As I know much more about it) The law in practice is not equal.
In general Bangladeshis sees Saudis as Muslim brothers first. The people from the land of prophet (صلعم) and Haramain. While Bangladeshi workers in KSA treated as an inferior race. (Not always, but more than enough times)
Of course, the response from Bangladeshi gov is muted as we have yearly inflow of $5 billions from KSA alone. And there are nearly 3 millions BD workers working. It is our fault that we are not strong enough to have enough leverage as a country on international stage.
Remember, this stuff inside mosque get you death sentence. But some Saudi fucker sending Kaba Gilaf to Edward Jeffery Epstein as gift is just usual business.
