In progress for the Saudi nuclear programme, the Kingdom completed basic administrative arrangements for the nuclear regulatory framework, including requirements for implementing the Comprehensive Safeguards Agreement, and submitted a request to cancel the Small Quantities Protocol (SQP) in July 2024, to begin construction of the first nuclear power plant.

⁃Within the framework of strengthening cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency, on August 7, 2024, Saudi Arabia submitted a document of its acceptance of the agency’s agreement on privileges and immunities, which strengthens its cooperation with the international community in the nuclear field.
⁃ The Kingdom benefited from the integrated regulatory review mission presented by the International Atomic Energy Agency in October 2023, which contributed to evaluating the Kingdom’s efforts in developing the nuclear regulatory framework.
