Scientists find genetic link between Attila’s Huns and Xiongnu empire that fought Han China

Yes, the original Han Chinese aka the slanted eye tribe were genetically selected in the Siberian region, slanted eyes due to the extreme cold and ice reflection, it is a genetic adaptation. They moved south, one became nomad in the steppes (Mongolians/Huns/Turks), another went to the Yellow River region and created the first Han Civilization. As they moved south to colonised new lands, they mixed with the local Austronesian brown races and created the modern day Southern Han people.

Good points and the early history is fascinating. Can you tell or feel any differences between Northern and Southern Han?
My elders still have the strong Nomadic profile.

Northern Han tend to be taller and fairer, while Southern Han is like an admixture of Malay/Brown race with Mongoloid races. They tend to be stout and shorter and darker, some even with curly hair. Having said that, China is huge and diverse, we have some degree of Caucasoid admixture, the only gene lacking is African admixture. Han people tend to be more willing to mix than say the steppe people, we don't pillage and kill and rape, we civilized the south and mix with them, once they have Han blood and learn Chinese they become Chinese.

Ah interesting, what's the Southern Han's line of work i.e. you seen Northern Han excel in white collar and technical professions. Do they do more manual work i.e. heavy endurance and strength based work?
Our Steppe people, and I can only speak for those of Mongol decent do have a unique culture and prefer certain climates, that stems willingness to venture out and further. If they do it will be regions very similar to the Mongol steppes, as my ancestral land is.

Southern Han excel in business and are less keen to join the martial services like the military. Northern Chinese likes to join the military and police force. Southern Chinese are more diplomatic and more shrewd, the North is pretty straightforward and treasure loyalty.

May not be entirely true, for example, nearly half of the founding PLA generals of PRC came from the three southern provinces Hunan, Hubei and Jiangxi. Mao himself was from Hunan too, majority of founding PRC leaders are Southerners. It's maybe be true that people in the southern greater Yangtze river delta and greater Pearl river delta are more business savvy than people in other regions of China. Currently, about half of PLA soldiers come from the following six provinces, Shandong, Henan, Hunan, Sichuan, Hebei and Anhui, two are north, two are south and two are central provinces.

When I mean South, I meant the Cantonese and Fujianese. Hunan, Hubei, Anhui to me is not that South. You literally see very few Gaungxi, Guangdong, Fujian, Yunnan people becoming soldiers.

I use the usual Qin Ling and Huai river as the dividing line. That are few provinces of the farthest South you put up. Hunan definitely and also Hubei are Southern provinces, Anhui is a central province and Sichuan is also a Southern province. Well, then, according to many Cantonese definition, any region outside or north of Guangdong province is considered North.

During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, 2.57 million soldiers of Sichuan nationality were killed in action, the largest number. Hunan's 1.57 million soldiers were killed in action, the second highest number. Soldiers of Guangxi nationality died in battle with 1.01 million, the third largest number. All of them were southerners.

It is true that northerners are straightforward and passionate, and southerners are shrewd and strong in business. But you are wrong to say that southerners are not good at fighting. It is true that Southerners are not as tall as Northerners, but they are not afraid to fight to the death.

Our country's highest ranked twenty people, founding marshals and generals, the vast majority of them are Hunan and Jiangxi people.

I think actually Hunan and Sichuan are the top two provinces for twenty marshals and senior generals. Jiangxi produced the most number of generals overall, but most are of lower ranks than the seniors.

Didn't know Guangxi people fought so much. I knew Sichuan and Hunan people are good fighters, but Cantonese, Fujianese, they are traders not warriors.

李宗仁 and 白崇禧 were two very famous and capable KMT generals from Guangxi, they built very good power base in the province and therefore built very strong and good fighting army there too. The army from Guangxi was one of the most capable and tough group of soldiers fought the Japanese in the Resistance war. 李宗仁 later became the president of ROC after Chiang Kai-shek was booted out office just before the liberation of China by CPC.

Actually, the biggest hero of KMT generals fought the Japanese in the Resistance War was general 薛岳 from Guangdong. His army killed the most number of Japanese soldiers in the war. He was responsible for commanding the Chinese army that defeated Japanese in the crucial and famous Changsha Battle of the war.
