SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — A group of eight South Korean students were detained Tuesday for allegedly breaking into a United States air base while shouting anti-U.S. slogans, South Korean authorities said.

U.S. military personnel detained the four male and four female students after they allegedly entered Osan Air Base near the capital Seoul. They were later transferred to the custody of South Korean authorities, police said.

The students were being investigated under a law protecting military installations in South Korea, according to police, who said they all had invoked their right to remain silent during questioning.

The Korean Progressive University Student Union said in a statement on Facebook that those detained were members who were trying to protest what it called the U.S. military’s opposition to a South Korean semiconductor cluster project.

Not new there is anti US sentiment in South Korea regarding US service personnel who often drunk will assault locals and act like idiots on nights out off base.

problems with local women, news common in Japanese bases too.

but I never heard something similar in European bases, maybe here local women are more willing to hang out with American troops , what is exactly what I've heard.

European bases are far stricter in terms of off base access. Most US bases like Rammstein are closed off communities, they don't mingle with the locals.

My friend from Germany told me locals never go anywhere near that base or the vicinity.

Because the US views the sovereignty of other nations virtually non-existent, especially for those who cannot resist their dominance.

Their elites have also successfully indoctrinated their own citizens to be filled with the American exceptionalism which effectively turns them into proud servants to subjugate other people.

My friend from Germany told me locals never go anywhere near that base or the vicinity.

Likewise for US soldiers inside the base. My friend told me, "It's pretty strict, we literally have no access to outside world here!".
