Syrian Civil War and The future of Syria after liberation

Okay be it a real or imaginary Bibi telling turkey Syria is our playground don’t mess with us or you will get burned Bibi has now thrown the gauntlet down and called turkey out edrogan needs to fire off his own warning shots at Israelis occupying Syrian territory(not golan it’s Syrias as well but the new land they have stolen)

Its nothing new, they did the same to an empty airbase outside of Damascus. Their not going to stop Turkiye rebuilding the Syrian army and setting Turkish bases across the country.

The trick is for the Turks to fight this war on their terms, not Israel's. In the last 10 years the Turkish military expanded in many directions, libya, syria, iraq, somalia, qatar, just signed a defence alliance with saudi arabia and pakistan etc etc.

Turks should continue to play their game, step by step. No wild reactions and not to get baited into a losing cause.

We are not in situation like the Palestinians, we are in no desperate position to be made to do anything. We do according to what serves the long term ambition.

And the best course of action is to keep opening doors for Syria internationally, the more that country is accepted globally the harder it will become for Israelis to **** around.

So I’m going to have to disagree with that Israel threw down the proverbial redline called turkey and edrogan out this doesn’t mean turkey goes to war war for this this means turkey sends in 10 thousand troops to this base calls bibis bluff humiliates him

Ok as I said let’s see what happens in Syria inshallah they become a true democracy but will see if in a year or so if they start the groundwork for that but they are the victors control much of Syria why do they need to make excuses for anyone it looks like turkey was about to establish some kind of forward base and the people running Syria can accept who they wish to have one their lands I’m telling you turkey should call this Bibi bluff send 10 20 thousand troops by air and land to this base honestly if they allow these warning strikes to go unchallenged soon there will be “accidental” bombings of Turkish troops

During the Syrian civil war we had similar events conducted against Turkiye by the USA and Russia. In the case of the Russians they directly bombed Turkish troops and the way they did it was in typical kunty russian fashion.

In Syria, Turkiye had a mechanism with Russia where we would tell them our troop deployments so they wouldnt make any mistakes in hitting Turkish troops during their years of indiscriminate killing from the air. Anyway Turkiye supplies them with co-ordinates to our troop deployment, they took those co-ordinates and then bombed Turkish troops.

They killed over 30 Turkish troops and many more were injured. To put that in context that one incident led to more total dead then the recent Pakistani/India skirmish. Anyway Turkiye wanted to send in helicopters to retreve the injured and dead. The Russians didnt allow it, so ambulances went in taking much longer and many died because of slow treatment. Anyway once they got there the Russians then bombed the ambulances, basically identical behaviour to the isrealis.

That incident led to Turkiye deploying the drones as the primary strike force. The first such time such thing took place in history. What warfare was before that operation and what it has become after it changed forever.

That Russian instigation basically pulled the Turkish army deeper into Syria, it saved the last rebel holdout and in the end Russia was dumped out the country with their two bit dictator assad.

Turks must play this game according to their plan. Not the plan of the enemy. Now the day we have an airforce compromised our own fighter jets, then yeah by all means we can be aggressive and violent in our operations.

But while our airforce is comprised of older american made f16's and the enemy gets to fly the the best available american F35's, the trick is not to play their game.

BTW in 2020 when that drone operation was conducted, these were the primary drones used.

today we are moving onto drones like this:

No need for Turkiye to make any rash moves, we are in no rush and in fact the longer we get to develop the better it is for us. Ideally Turkiye needs another 10 years of development in her military sphere. These progressions are taking places across the entire military not just drone tech.

Its the isrealis who are in a race against time and would love nothing more for the Turks to do something stupid like the Palestinians did not so long ago.

That’s your opinion at least I can respect that you believe that

That’s your opinion at least I can respect that you believe that

Historically though its not opinion its what actually transpired and its what won Turkiye the war.

There was even incidents where the americans themselves bombed Turkish backed groups to threaten Turkiye.

Now if the Isrealis were to get so brazen as to murder Turkish troops, then yeah its war and Turkiye would feel 100% justified not just domestically but internationally to take action. Even then the long game shouldn't be forfeited for a moment of anger.

So until that point let the zionists have their little hissy fits, let them lash out. Turks will continue to play their game. So far that game made Turkiye gains in all theatres it was applied. As much as i don't personally like erdogan, its this approach where he knows when to concede in order to maintain his agenda is what makes him regionally dangerous.

So far all other Muslims who played their game lost against isreal, so let the Turks take their approach.

Historically it was the Turks under their great leader Sultan Baybars who entirely removed the crusader presence from the region, it was only with Turkish power weakening and the fall of the Ottomans that they were able to return. If i was a gambling man, this problem is either going to be solved by the Turks, or the entire region will come under direct or indirect anglo/american zionist occupation.

Türkiye has the option of being able to target Israeli soldiers in Syria(they occupied the UN buffer zone after the fall of Assad) as well and also the Golan(which is Syrian), as an escalation ladder for a tit-for-tat.

Ok…..like I said I respect your views whatever they may be

KSA is probably the country that has invested the most in Syria after the liberation of Syria and the removal of the Al-Assad regime.

There is new news appearing quite frequently as well and new deals signed. Not sure if AI has the correct overlook of it all.

SEC signs PPAs for solar and BESS projects with Saudi firm

August 21, 2026

Syrian Electricity Company (SEC), Syria’s state-owned electricity utility, has signed power purchase agreements (PPAs) with Saudi construction company Mohammed A. Al-Harfi, for the development of three solar power plants with a combined capacity of 760 MWp and battery energy storage system (BESS) totalling 1,077 MWh. The three solar parks will be constructed in the Wadiyan al-Rabi area in rural Damascus and will be connected to a 400 kV transmission line.

Furthermore, the initiative, named Shams Al-Sham, forms part of the Syrian government’s strategy to increase the share of renewable energy in the national power mix and improve grid stability. The development follows the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Al-Harfi and Syria’s General Establishment for Electricity Transmission and Distribution (PE-TDE) for a 210 MW solar project, supported by a BESS with 827 MWh capacity.

In October 2025, the PE-TDE of Syria signed a memorandum of understanding with the Saudi companies Al-Harfi and Sakalko to develop solar and wind projects. These projects will have a cumulative capacity of up to 500 MW. Additionally, the PE-TDE signed a PPA with the Syrian-Turkish company Syrian-Turkish Energy Company to procure 100 MW of solar power.

Iran must admit what it has done to Syrians before any mediation — FM Shaibani

  • Shaibani says during Pakistan visit Syria is studying whether to join Makkah defense pact
  • Syrian FM says US mediating with Israel as Damascus seeks end to strikes, rules out war
ISLAMABAD: Iran would first have to acknowledge what it had done to Syria and its people before any future Pakistan-led mediation could help restore ties between Damascus and Tehran, Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan Al-Shaibani said on Thursday.

Shaibani was speaking to journalists in Islamabad during his first official visit to Pakistan since the December 2024 overthrow of Bashar Assad, whose government was a close Iranian ally.

Tehran provided Assad with extensive military and financial support during Syria’s nearly 14-year civil war, including through Iran-backed armed groups that fought alongside government forces.

Asked whether Islamabad, which has mediated between Iran and the United States during their recent conflict, could play a similar role between Damascus and Tehran, Shaibani said no such proposal had been made during his visit.

“We are, of course, very happy and proud of the historic role that was played by Pakistan in the mediation between the USA and Iran, and the breakthrough that has come in an appropriate time to stop this war,” he said through an interpreter.

“In this visit, there was no offering of mediating between Iran and Syria,” he added. “In the future, if the causes of such mediation or such talk with Iran are in place, and if Iran recognized and admitted what it has done to Syria and to the Syrian people, and if Pakistan is willing to have a role in such talks, so we have no problem.”

Shaibani said diplomacy with Tehran was not permanently off the table but relations could not move toward an exchange of visits until Iran addressed its role in Syria under Assad.

“Diplomacy has no limits,” he said. “So when we see that such a scenario fits into the interest of the Syrian state and the Syrian people, and there are genuine justification of that and a real solution for what Iran has done to our people in the past 14 years, so this might happen.”

MAKKAH DEFENSE PACT

Shaibani said Syria was also studying whether to join a new joint defense agreement between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye, but had not yet taken a decision.

The Makkah Joint Defense Agreement, signed by the three countries on Aug. 7, stipulates that an armed attack against one of its members would be considered an attack against all three.

“As for the Makkah Agreement, we observed this agreement just as did all other countries, and we understand that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia and Turkiye are very important countries in the region,” Shaibani said.

“Of course, we are studying our options,” he continued. “We don’t have a decision right now whether to join or not to join this alliance. This is something that will be kept for the future.”

His comments came amid renewed tensions with Israel, which carried out eight airstrikes on Syria’s Abu Al-Duhur air base this week, damaging its runway and storage areas. Israel said the strikes were intended to prevent a potential deployment of Turkish forces at the facility, while Türkiye denied it had personnel there.

Shaibani accused Israel of seeking to prevent Syria from stabilizing and rebuilding since Assad’s overthrow and said it had violated the 1974 Disengagement Agreement by advancing into the buffer zone separating Israeli and Syrian forces.

“The relationship with Israel is tense,” he said, adding: “Israel is seeking not to give space to Syria to have stability in the country or to rebuild the country.”

But Shaibani said Damascus did not want another war and that US mediation was underway to de-escalate tensions and seek a security agreement between Syria and Israel.

“We want to reconstruct the country, we want the stability of Syria and the region, we don’t want to go into war with Israel, and we want Israel to stop its aggression against Syria,” he said.

Asked whether Syria could eventually join the Abraham Accords, under which several Arab states established relations with Israel, he said it was too early to discuss a strategic agreement while Israeli attacks continued.

“In order to get into any strategic agreement, we need to have an appropriate environment for discussing any future relations,” he said. “Right now, all of our concern is to stop the aggressions of Israel against Syria.”

Shaibani also described Türkiye, a major supporter of Syria’s new administration, as an important “partner and ally” and said Damascus wanted Ankara to play a role in the country’s reconstruction.

“Our relationship with Turkiye is in the open, it’s very clear, and it’s not secret,” he said, adding that Syria was a sovereign country that would choose its alliances and partnerships according to its national interests.

PAKISTAN-SYRIA TIES

In response to a question about Syria’s relations with Pakistan, Shaibani said his visit had opened the way for expanded cooperation between Islamabad and Damascus, with the two sides agreeing to revive their Joint Ministerial Commission and work toward restoring direct flights.

Both countries also agreed to establish a Pakistan-Syria Business Council, hold an investment forum in Damascus and exchange military, economic and trade delegations, he said.

Shaibani met Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and army chief Field Marshal Asim Munir during the visit.

Pakistan reaffirmed its support for Syria’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, while the two sides discussed cooperation in trade, investment, defense, education and people-to-people exchanges.

Shaibani said the two countries also intended to raise their diplomatic representation to ambassadorial level, adding that formal diplomatic representation had never been interrupted.

“The most important thing in any relationship is to have the political will and the good intentions to improve these relations, and to have mutual respect and joint interests or common interests in order to have a healthy relationship,” he said.

“That’s what we have found today in our meetings with all the Pakistani officials. We found that we are on the same page, we have the same concerns, and we have the same goals, and we want to improve this relationship.”

Big News in Syria potentially. Still premature but moving in the right direction.

Its a good direction but Syria is a mess right now. They got Kurds who are armed and fighting with backing of usa. Armed alawites on the west coast and Israelis incursions in the south stealing more land. I'm glad at least jolani hasn't gone full Isis mode and started burning people in cages at least.

Actually it is not as bad as propagandized (often in the media). There is little to no Alawite insurgency and reprisal against Alawites (despite 50 + years of Al-Assad regime rule and untold oppression that many Syrians faced) have been very few overall. In fact many of us have been shocked by how little there has been.

SDF went from controlling huge areas of Eastern and Northern Syria to barely controlling much at all. They are reduced to Al-Qamishli in the northeastern most part of Syria and now have officially merged with the Syrian state.

Main problem and challenge are the Israelis/Zionists but it is also overblown in terms of what they have temporarily occupied of Syrian territory. We are talking about a tiny landmass but of course this does not make it any better as it should not have taken place in the first place.

However the Golan Heights were lost under the Al-Assad regime.

The Golan Heights are around 1,200 square kilometers while the new "buffer zone" that the Zionists have stolen is between 350-400 square kilometers in size.

So significantly less. If you read some posts online from certain sources, you would think that the Zionists control half of Syria nowadays. Not the case.

But once again, we need to remember the context. Syria faced a bloody civil war for over 13 years. Their focus and priority is to deal with the past (put the Al-Assad regime officials and others to account), unify Syria and develop while refraining from entering any new conflicts.

That is why Syria refuses, despite big pressure, to open the Hezbollah file in next door Southern Lebanon. Or involve themselves in Iraq next door.

ISIS/Al-Assad regime in terms of brutality/torture/executions are pretty much the same coin. Both were brutal. And civil wars are the worst thing to begin with and always very bloody.

You as a Chinese should know this very well.

EDIT: I forget the Druze in As-Suwayda but that is one small faction aligned with the Zionist (Al-Hijri) and things have calmed down largely. The Druze have their own autonomy of sorts but of course the Zionists are trying to stir the pan in order to use it as an excuse to annex more Syrian land. They have openly been talking about this - hence the open support for Al-Hijri and his likes. Most Syrian Druze have refused to fall in the trap though.

Christian Arabs, Assyrians and others are doing fine and not targeted. You can google the Christmas and Easter celebrations in Syria this year, last year and even in 2024 just mere days after the ouster of the regime.

Sure, a minority of Syrians have been radicalized by the civil war (in all sorts of ways) and many are traumatized but overall the Syrians were always a tolerant and civilized people with a rich ancient history.

Your understanding of Syria is limited and much of it outdated.

The Kurd/YPG issue is largely dealt with, they announced they dissolved yesterday and incorporated into the Syrian govt.

The US left Syria several months ago. The Kurdish/PKK seperatist project in Syria is effectively dead.

The Alawite insurgency on the coast has largely subsided.

The only issue left is Israel and the Druze seperatist they are backing in the South.

No one is burning people in Cages.

Sooner the Syrian army pacifies their country the better. Israelis hold some strategic locations but not much land as u said. Bringing in the Kurds and preventing open borders in the north east will prevent militant Kurds from travelling across iraq/Turkey kurdish majority areas etc for weapons and training.

At least the country is ruled by the majority class of people and that brings natural stability whereas before there was always the chance of open communal violence between majority vs minority. Let's hope Syria turns out well and not into another Libya in coming years
