There are two ways of looking at conflicts, including this one. Strategic and humanitarian. From the strategic point of view there’s been a setback for Palestinians but from a humanitarian point of view it’s a great victory for Syrians.

Among Syrians there’s an almost universal approval of the ouster of Assad. Most/all Palestinians are also happy about it. I posted a video of a lecture by my favorite Islamic scholar who is a Palestinian. So, if Syrians are happy and Palestinians are happy, then who are we as outsiders to complain?

There’s also a philosophical or religious way of looking at it. Islam does not approve of the concept of using unjust means for a just end. To oppress 23 million Syrians to help 10 million Palestinians is not right.

I also happen to believe that Iran and the axis of resistance cannot solve the Palestinian problem by themselves. Unity among Muslims is required. The recent war has resulted in 200,000-500,000 Palestinian deaths, so it is apparent that the current strategy wasn’t working.

I can keep going on, but I hope I have clarified why I support the liberation of Syria.

Time will tell if they were happy to destroy themselves or not.

I was expressing my unhappiness with the aggressive actions of Israel with a new government that is showing no hostility at all. Israel has crossed into Syria and attacked many targets. That is what I was referring to as borders. I feel it is counterproductive as there is(was?) good possibility of cultivating friendly relations with the new government.

Turkey seems to be trying to inject some common sense into HTS etc. That is the deciding factor imho.

Maybe, but that alone is not sufficient if different groups of bandits start attacking each other, looting public assets and harassing ordinary people. Look at Haiti or Somalia or Sudan to see how quickly law and order can disintegrate when a government falls.

Not just the leaders.

Just look at a large section of the Muslim posters here with their sectarian, selfish and naive views.

Syria should now lay to rest that it is just the leaders who are at fault for the miserable state of a lot of Muslim countries.

That is what you and some others may think. But Syrians seem to be in a spirit of Let bygones be bygones and think of better life post-Assad. I have not seen any evidence of anti-Israel sentiment from anyone in government or ordinary Syrian. They are counting their blessings for having escaped Assad's gulag with their life and limbs intact.
