Taiwan's Expulsion from the UN in 1971

The expulsion of Taiwan from the UN in 1971, following Resolution 2758, marked a pivotal moment in global politics. Driven by diplomatic maneuvers and shifting alliances, the decision reflected the rise of the People's Republic of China and reshaped international relations, leaving Taiwan in isolation and impacting global power dynamics.

(25 Oct 1971) Events during the passing of United Nations General Assembly Resolution 2758 (also known as the Resolution on Admitting Peking), a resolution recognizing the Beijing-based PRC (People’s Republic of China) as sole Chinese delegation to the United Nations, and rejecting the ROC (Republic of China) which governs from Taiwan, and claims itself as the only true representative of China. Upon the vote in favour of the PRC, the ROC Minister of Foreign Affairs stated that they would have no further part in proceedings and all ROC delegates left the hall.

George Bush Reacts To Taiwan Being Kicked Out Of The United Nations

Former president George Bush Sr. discusses the decision to kick Taiwan out of the UN.

Can't believe that a small island represented the whole China in UN for several decades, so bizarre.

Well... it was a tragic chapter in Taiwan’s history....

Later, in 1979, the US officially established diplomatic relations with mainland China and severed diplomatic ties with Taiwan (ROC)......

The sad part is that American civil war was won completely by the North while in the Chinese civil war, the north victory is not so complete.

As usual the title of this video is intentionally misleading.

Taiwan was not expelled from the UN. The representatives at the UN sitting in China's chair were expelled for not being considered the true representatives of the mainland Chinese government.

the order decree said

"...to restore all its rights to the People's Republic of China and to recognize the representatives of its Government as the only legitimate representatives of China to the United Nations... and to expel forthwith the representatives of Chiang Kai-shek from the place which they unlawfully occupy."

22 years after China's Civil War Mao's representatives finally were allowed to take a seat at the UN to represent mainland China.

We can see the Chinese propaganda department very very very slyly and craftily at work here trying to portray Taiwan itself as an illegitimate renegade (see..see...looky here...Taiwan even got expelled from the UN!!) ...even though this particular ruling had nothing to do with the Taiwan island itself.

The thing is this ruling sort of proves Taiwan's existence. It says the representatives of Taiwan lost their right to represent mainland China because they obviously have no control over it. But then you can claim mainland China lost the right to represent Taiwan because they obviously have no control over it either.

Then why US federal government fought a war on the southern states when they obviously didn't want to be part of the Union?

What does this have to do with anything with my post?
Why are you doing some smokescreen tangent?
I never said anything about your Civil War being illegitimate or the outcome being illegitimate.
