Taiwan's Expulsion from the UN in 1971

The expulsion of Taiwan from the UN in 1971, following Resolution 2758, marked a pivotal moment in global politics. Driven by diplomatic maneuvers and shifting alliances, the decision reflected the rise of the People's Republic of China and reshaped international relations, leaving Taiwan in isolation and impacting global power dynamics.

(25 Oct 1971) Events during the passing of United Nations General Assembly Resolution 2758 (also known as the Resolution on Admitting Peking), a resolution recognizing the Beijing-based PRC (People’s Republic of China) as sole Chinese delegation to the United Nations, and rejecting the ROC (Republic of China) which governs from Taiwan, and claims itself as the only true representative of China. Upon the vote in favour of the PRC, the ROC Minister of Foreign Affairs stated that they would have no further part in proceedings and all ROC delegates left the hall.

George Bush Reacts To Taiwan Being Kicked Out Of The United Nations

Former president George Bush Sr. discusses the decision to kick Taiwan out of the UN.

Well... it was a tragic chapter in Taiwan’s history....

Later, in 1979, the US officially established diplomatic relations with mainland China and severed diplomatic ties with Taiwan (ROC)......

The sad part is that American civil war was won completely by the North while in the Chinese civil war, the north victory is not so complete.

As usual the title of this video is intentionally misleading.

Taiwan was not expelled from the UN. The representatives at the UN sitting in China's chair were expelled for not being considered the true representatives of the mainland Chinese government.

the order decree said

"...to restore all its rights to the People's Republic of China and to recognize the representatives of its Government as the only legitimate representatives of China to the United Nations... and to expel forthwith the representatives of Chiang Kai-shek from the place which they unlawfully occupy."

22 years after China's Civil War Mao's representatives finally were allowed to take a seat at the UN to represent mainland China.

We can see the Chinese propaganda department very very very slyly and craftily at work here trying to portray Taiwan itself as an illegitimate renegade (see..see...looky here...Taiwan even got expelled from the UN!!) ...even though this particular ruling had nothing to do with the Taiwan island itself.

The thing is this ruling sort of proves Taiwan's existence. It says the representatives of Taiwan lost their right to represent mainland China because they obviously have no control over it. But then you can claim mainland China lost the right to represent Taiwan because they obviously have no control over it either.

Then why US federal government fought a war on the southern states when they obviously didn't want to be part of the Union?

What does this have to do with anything with my post?
Why are you doing some smokescreen tangent?
I never said anything about your Civil War being illegitimate or the outcome being illegitimate.

As always, the Indian's sophistry. Reality is expulsion. Reality is Taiwan passports are not allowed to enter the UN headquarters. Reality is the vast majority of countries in the whole world all refuse to recognize Taiwan as an independent country.

Already your IQ went straight to 0. Indians and you must be close cousins since you both share the same lack of intelligence.

Every day you "blood brothers" show how closely related you two people's are with the similar ways you both post. Cars, trains, planes, phones, computers, and other modern things in this world certainly didn't originate in either of your two countries..and it is obvious why.

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

That has nothing to do with 1971. That all started in the 2000's when China started crying loudly about it. Before then Taiwanese passported tourists were waltzing into the UN building just like everybody else.

▲▲▲ Americans have the least right to speak on this matter.

◉ It was your government that changed its China policy, pushed for mainland China to enter the United Nations, and helped it obtain a seat in the UN.

◉ The US is not truly anti-communist. Everything it does is aimed solely at protecting its own interests, and it can sacrifice its allies at any time. It courted mainland China to counter the Soviet Union, but sacrificed the interests of Taiwan (ROC).

◉ In 1979, the US formally recognized the government of mainland China as the sole legitimate government of China, established diplomatic relations with mainland China, and severed diplomatic relations with Taiwan (ROC). Wasn’t Taiwan (ROC) an ally of the United States?

Given your government’s record of betraying an ally, as an American, you are the last person to point fingers at others over this matter.

---------------

The US uses Ukrainian blood to weaken Russia, and it also wants to use Taiwanese blood to weaken mainland China.

The US, which wages wars everywhere and stirs up trouble, is now beginning to decline. This is good news for the whole world........

Congratulations...absolutely nothing you wrote has anything to do with my posts.

That's quite an achievement.

You guys aren't exactly doing a great job representing China to the world....jeez.

They are all discussing cross-strait relations and the UN, so how could it be irrelevant?

You are just pretending not to see it.

----------

BTW, I guess you're what people in mainland China call 「精美 spiritually American」 or 「精日 spiritually Japanese」...

Considering that more than 40,000 people in the US have died from gun violence annually in recent years, I hope someone has Neo's superpower to dodge bullets.
Otherwise, one day.......

Anyway, please do not leave the US and be buried there. Alternatively, being buried in Japan would also be a fine choice for someone......

Again absolutely nothing you are posting has anything to do with the 1971 vote.

As for the sentiment of the US in 1971 it was clear before the vote that almost everybody in the room knew Mao was in charge of mainland China and the nationalists in Taiwan had no case.

Over two decades of stupidness had passed and honestly not many countries gave a sh*t about who was in charge in China anymore. It's like the Ukraine War where everybody is just weary of the two sides being stupid and don't give a sh*t anymore over which side "wins" as they both are seen as losers.
