I think there’s a saying among the Germans and the French about themselves: If the “ignorant” Turks can pull this off then surely we can too. The problem with this mindset is that those so-called “ignorant” Turks would treat it like a “ man-on-the-moon” project and fully commit to it. I doubt we’d see that same level of dedication from either the French the Germans.

The Germans could develop a sixth-generation fighter jet if they wanted to. However, since WW II, CIA and US political influence have not allowed Germany and Japan to make fully independent strategic decisions. As the Russian threat in Europe and the Chinese threat in East Asia continue to grow, the United States may eventually have to allow them greater freedom to develop advanced military capabilities and weapons systems.

Let’s first see whether they can mass-produce an engine on the level of the F110 and WS-10, let alone an engine in the class of the WS-15 or F135.

Agreed, but the same is still valid for Kaan and as such the Turkish industry!

Germany easly can not develop a 6th gen Fighter Jet entirely on its own



1 -- Post-WWII, Germany has not designed and produced a fully indigenous Fighter Jet

2 -- Germany has not full standalone end to end capability for a modern high-thrust turbofan Engine for Fighter Jets

3 -- Germany alone can not develop MUM-T concept ( manned-unmanned teaming )

also Germany needs to develop subsystems like AESA Radar , EOTS , IRST , EW Suite , ramjet powered BVR air to air Missile , new Cruise Missile , anti-radiation Missile


Even the FCAS project was planned to be developed between 2040-2050 period with the help of an experienced country like France... If Germany can do it alone even by 2050, it will be a success

On the other hand , Turkish KAAN project is already in production/test phase

Engine development activities have been ongoing since 2018 and significant progress has been made.

In the worst-case scenario, all platforms will be produced with domestically produced engines within 7-10 years.

KAAN's MUM-T capability will begin around 2030.
