THINK TANK: CONSULTANT
I don't think it's possible. The PFX is based on. The Thunder platform, and is really just Pakistan's effort to increase its share in the fighter by increasing indigenous parts, and upgrades.Would the PAF be interested into merging the PFX and its participation in the KAAN program, to go for the single engine version of the KAAN. Equipped with one TF35000, if Pakistan can build it bulk and the PFX/Kaan can be a long term replacement for all fighters except the J-35A. The TF35000 if paired with a 10,000 kg empty weight air frame would have the same thrust to weight as the Eurofighter. Build around missiles like the PL-17, it could really see all efforts move towards a viable “light to medium” fighter that can be build in bulk, and allow the PAF to have quantity and quality.
This single engine platform could also be sold as a fighter/trainer for the Turkish twin engine KAAN, and possibly small enough to be able to fit on the Turkish aircraft carrier, if not other nation’s aircraft carriers.
Expertise gained from the KAAN would help significantly, but merging the two would be difficult.
