They have a small budget and no Fauji conglomerate to take cash from either. JF-17 has same engine as MiG-29 with minor differences. They will find it easier to maintain and operate. Assuming they will still get the PL-15E though.

We won't be able to see the JF-17 flight demonstration because of the Indian plane accident; the remaining 10 flight shows have been canceled.

Indian 'Tejas' Fighter Jet Crashes, Pilot Dies; Dubai Airshow Flight Display Ends Early

Around 14:10 local time on November 21, an Indian-made 'Tejas' fighter jet crashed during a flight display at the Dubai Airshow, and the pilot was unable to eject. The UAE Ministry of Defense and the Dubai Media Office later issued statements confirming that the pilot tragically lost his life. Reporters at the scene saw fire trucks and rescue helicopters had already arrived at the crash site.

The Indian 'Tejas' fighter jet was the third aircraft to perform in the afternoon flight display. During the display, the 'Tejas' suddenly lost control, rapidly crashed, and exploded.

The flight display at the airshow resumed after being paused for over an hour. The Russian Knights and the UAE Knights aerobatic teams conducted brief performances, but the final day of flight displays ended early, and the remaining 10 performances were canceled.

The Indian Air Force has established an investigation committee to examine the cause of the 'Tejas' fighter jet crash at the Dubai Airshow that day.

The 'Tejas' fighter jet was jointly developed by the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) Aircraft Research and Design Centre (ARDC). It is a single-seat, single-engine, all-weather supersonic third-generation fighter developed for the Indian Air Force.

From Battle field to Aishow - Thunder is talk of the town "

Pakistan’s JF-17 Thunder fighter jet drew major attention at the Dubai Airshow 2025. The Combat proven aircraft, earlier credited with Cheese board radar destruction of an Indian S-400 AD System, became the centerpiece of the Pakistan Air Force pavilion. Indian Air Force officials and international visitors closely observed its design and capabilities.

The jet’s display coincided with Pakistan’s announcement of delivering the first batch of JF-17s to Azerbaijan. Discussions are also underway for potential joint production in the future. Officials confirmed these agreements could be finalized soon

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), several countries expressed interest in acquiring the battle-tested multi-role aircraft, reflecting growing international confidence in Pakistan’s aviation industry.

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed with a friendly country for the procurement of the fighter jet.

Other than UAE, Several other countries [Bangladesh, Qatar, Bahrain, Jordan, Iraq & an African Country] expressed interest in acquiring the JF-17 Thunder, demonstrating increasing international confidence in Pakistan’s aviation industry."
