My take is that if you get invaded, you are gona need to be strapping! I remember when Yugoslavia dissolved and the serbs had the guns and others were unarmed. the unarmed crowd got massacred. So its better to be a responsible gun owner than b at the mercy.

I am not very informed but I never support that civilians should have rifles or form militias, i disagree with a lot of people here that are pro gun, like I said if you live in America some sort of tool is important for self defense given how attacks can happen in unlikely places, i give example of Palestinian kid who was stabbed to death in his own home by a right winger who was inspired by Israel/Palestinian conflict, now on left side you have 2 trans people who shot up Catholic churches, and now this attack of Charlie.

everyone is on the edge, people go out to school to study but majority of mass shooting happen in American schools, people go out to protest (XYZ) that's where mostly incidents like people driving car or trucks into crowd happen, and Jewish temples were attack, Catholic schools are attacked ,and Mosques are attacked. More Guns or More Police is answer? Americans don't like either, people hate when cops stop them, if you are stop as black guy its racial profiling, if white right winger is stop and ask for credentials they were like I know my rights blah blah... This political gap within American society is gonna get worse.

It could be, I don't know much about 1960's but I bet there are more guns today than in 1960s, also via social media propaganda and fake information is spread like wild fire, which mobilize people quickly and effective to riled up people which can turn violent.

Political violence in the US stretches back to the 1800s. You don’t know our history very well. The 1960s were far more turbulent than today. JFK, Bobby Kennedy, MLK assasinations, Vietnam War, hippy anti war movement, race riots etc

I am for the Swiss model of armament, or maybe a hybrid system. But I am 100% sure once the bandmasters rule ends people are going to demand arms licenses. Or they will arm themselves illegally in Pakistan in a much larger number.

Depends on how long the tenure is. American state apparatus has been resilient in not getting dragged into the politics of presidents, which are temporary. But given enough time, your will see the Punjab policification of major arms of the federal govt. Some might say it has already started with ICE.

I saw a documentary not long ago about the right wing extremism penetrating US military, in fact this to some in US is the biggest threat US is facing, remember the Oklohama bomber was Ex-US military guy who blow up a Federal building, the largest attack before the 9/11 by a ex or serving US military personnel. Cops are no different, Oath keepers are solely based on ex-cops or vets or fire fighters and we saw what they are capable of during Jan 6 2021.
