Turkey Syria - News & Updates

Israel just drew a from red line in the sand.

Quite a firm line at that.

No Turkish bases in Syria, period.

And I don’t see Turkiye challenging Israel on that line in Syria. No clandestine bases or formal bases will be allowed and Turkiye should accept that reality.

Syria will at most be allowed an armed milita for local security and that will be it, I don’t see Israel allowing anything more than that being allowed to develop in Syria.
I think the fact Türkiye is trying to establish air base tells me they won't be giving up any time soon. However if they dont deploy air defences and fighter jets then its a folly to try and secure Syria atleast in the short term.

Unless Turkiye is prepared to military confront to the level of a military clash if required, they should really leave things alone. Make it official above board at the request and invitation of the Syrian government or stay out of it.

Imo, Turks never had any plans to develop military infrastructure in Syria until Israeli made threats.

Turkish infrastructure is purely defensive almost like how Egypt would use Gaza as a defensive wall for it.

It would be difficult to build run ways all over Syria, to be used for example emergency cases for Turkish AF? But what about the Naval Port in Latakia ? A Turkish Navy activity and deployment there plus other early warning infrastructures for defensive purposes might be worth it for Turkey.

Turkey also can't show it's cards it's prepared for other kind of wars which it would be forced to if dragged into conflict with Israel. If US doesn't seriously restrain Israel the region might explode in later time.

Israel wants a fully demilitarized neighborhood while neighbors want some sense of security from Israeli savagery and mass murder that they all just witnessed in Gaza and Lebanon.

Israeli also ran by a cult satanic like government that are uncertain on how they want to proceed as jinns feed them bad information lots of time and they are not in control of things. Basically even evil jinns can be used by Allah to manipulate the Israelis Jews into plotting their own destruction. Allah knows best.

Statement issued by the Netanyahu office:

📍Israel and Syria have agreed to maintain the status quo on security matters, which is the status that Syria was on the verge of violating by allowing Turkish forces to deploy in an airbase near Aleppo.

📍Israel has repeatedly warned Syria that this deployment would pose a threat to Israel's security. Syria chose to ignore these warnings.

📍Israel will not tolerate any threats to its security and will welcome a return to the status quo.

Turks will work quietly behind the scenes to asses this threat and asses deployment in Syria is my guess

Fact that Iran war is still technically an open active war that doesn't appear nearing to end anytime gives Turkey some leverage to go back to drawing board

Where is this agreed status quo agreement? If Syria was adhering to the agreement prior to this, then why do they still continue to encroach on Syrian territory? Odd there is any agreement?

Honestly - on this front. Syria is a lost cause and Turkiye should not waste their time or money on bases in Syria or attempting to rebuild Syrian military. Focus the money on homeland defence.

Syria will never be allowed to reconstitute her armed forces ever now.

I cannot deny what you said at all, honestly. Turkey will attempt to have Syria function as forward defense for it against Kurds and Israel but if it gets bigger it could be net loss for Turkey. At same time it's national security matter so Turkey will push boundaries and continue until US and Israel agree to some level of their deployment in Syria.

The formula is extend deployment + expand and push boundaries to secure the level of deployment and activity they are actually seeking truly which is only known to them.

If I'm Turkey this is grave national security matter for me. Syria to Turkey is like what Iraq is to Iran.

No way in hell would I remove any troops and might even put more. Will also supply and train Syrian army responsibily. The more responsible Syrian political and military leadership get and the more wisdom they show over time, the more I upgrade their capabilities.

I wouldn't die on airbases hill but I'd get creative. Make naval presence on coast and keep ground bases. I'd maybe keep building runways everywhere to have Israel busied with that while the real work and progress is made behind scenes.

If they target my troops I'm firing artillery at Golan Heights and northern Israel in a low stakes low tempo warfare to draw a red line.

It's not an ideal situation but it's a serious national security matter for my country (if I'm Turkish ) that we cannot back down from. And there are lots of cards for Turkey to play that doesn't involve direct military confrontation with Israel or at least more advanced stages of confrontation with Israel. There is situations that benefit it in this time and hour such as active US - Israel - Iran war which exhausts US and Israeli resources and focus.

This sounds completely defeatist. And you have far too much fear for the Zionist entity.

Turkey Syria relations will not be dictated by the Israelis.

It took a long time to get to this point

As far as the Turks and even the Arabs are concerned, a century of colonial machinations were reversed with the collapse of Assad and the alewite regime

Turkey isn't going anywhere
It's planning across the region from Syria to Libya and beyond

The alliance with Pakistan and Saudi is part of that

Israel is desperately trying to keep everyone away, but the boundaries will be pushed repeatedly
