Read the comments from actual Greek Cypriots:
Fascinating. The Israelis are indeed comming to stay, at least it looks like that. Remember, Southern Cyprus has a population of ~750.000 ethnic Greeks. They could easily outbumber you guys.
Orthodox Jewish women in the U.S. have a significantly higher fertility rate than other Jewish denominations, averaging approximately
3.3 to 4.5 children per woman. Within Ultra-Orthodox (Haredi) communities, this rate is even higher, often reaching 6 to 7 children, driven by high marriage rates and religious, family-centric values.
I agree that it's folly and very irresponsible of both the Cypriot and the Greek governments to allow for land to be bought this easily and this much by foreigners. And I'm not just talking about Jews,I'm talking about everyone. Like someone said in the comments,Cyprus is a small place, you can't have foreigners buy land. Either Russian or Israeli,it doesn't matter. They're still foreigners.
Now,from my personal experience:
From the Cypriots that I follow on social media,I've only seen one complain about her hometown having become very different in seeing foreigners everywhere. I don't remember which city it was, either Limassol or Larnaca probably. I asked her if it was Africans,Arabs,Asians etc or a certain nearby ethnicity. She said the second one. She said they're everywhere, buying everything.
However, none of all the other people I follow from Cyprus have complained or mentioned about something similar.
Another thing I found myself while checking Cyprus on Google Earth, was a Hadasha Hospital(I think that's the name)and a Shiv(?)Hinduist Temple.
Hinduist Temple in Cyprus? In Cyprus?! Big Israeli Hospital?
If this trend keeps going, this is something unacceptable and problematic. On one hand,we have a gazillion Muslim "refugees" and illegal immigrants on the islands and on the mainland,on the other hand Israelis,Russians,Albanians,Bulgarians and others are buying property on the islands and mainland. This is like a powder keg for the indigenous society.
However,so far it's been the leftists exaggerating about this(the Israeli purchases)and leftists are known to do that. The elections next year will be important.
There is one problem politically in Greece the last 3 years: There's no strong opposition.
The opposition parties have weakened or fragmented.
Specifically PASOK which is the primary opposition party, has a very weak party leader,
who lacks charisma. Elliniki Lysi(Hellenic Solution)is lead by a guy who's a notorious telemarketer.
KKE,the Greek Communist Party is always the same(out of NATO,out of wars, down with defence spending, down with privatization, down with capitalism)
SYRIZA had part of its base split and form New Left and part of the rest left with Kasselakis. Now Tsipras wants to come back to politics and found his own party.
Pleusi Eleftherias is basically a one-woman party, caring only about scandals and social justice.
The rest are even more weak or out of parliament right now.
