This is interesting... I can't imagine what Baykar would need from Safran, that they can't get from Leonardo or Aselsan, with regards to Avionics and Electronics.

It's probably more networking than actual business. Neither France nor their close allies like India are going to pick Turkish drones or even subsystems. The French also have this habit of wanting to be included in every European defence deal. FOMO.

Baykar General Manager Haluk Bayraktar:

All profits obtained from SAHA EXPO will be used to establish drone training, testing, and production centers in 81 provinces and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

The goal in these centers is for young people to learn how to fly drones, assemble drones, and develop basic components.

A large Drone Park is planned to be established in Istanbul, including training, testing, and competition areas.

This is one of the reasons I was apprehensive about selling to the UAE.

Hopefully Turkieye have learnt their lesson now.

Hopefully Turkieye have learnt their lesson now.

ehh, these things are complicated.

Some relationships are ride or die of course and ones you pick above all else, but some relationships change based on circumstances. For example Turkey backed the democratically elected govt in Egypt, but then there was a coup and it created bad blood, but b/c interests align and there was a need to work together regarding converging interests in Sudan and Somalia, Turkey put that aside.

Turkey has good relations with Morocco and has sold them things they requested and Turkey is trying to build strategic relations with Algeria. If there is a conflict there, we might see a similar situation.

For many circumstances, it can't be helped, though I do wish they keep UAE relations to a minimum, it is a harmful state, there was a truce for a while, but right now they are acting up again. So what my personal feelings are and what is in the interests of the state may be two different things.

Its similar for Pakistan, there was Emirati investments in Pakistan, and Pakistan depends of remittance from the UAE, but Pakistan has strategic relations with Saudi, so if there is a conflict, it complicates things.
